Cornerback Justin Tryon, who the Redskins just took in the fourth round, might not make the team after a checkered college career, but the press corps will be rooting for him.
Here are some of the outrageous quotes Tryon issued in his brief, introductory interview:
Asked if he knew who the Redskins have at cornerback, Tryon didn't mention Shawn Springs, Fred Smoot or Carlos Rogers, who have combined for 19 years as NFL starters. Here's what Tryon said. "It really don't matter. It's my spot to take."
Asked about covering taller wideouts, the 5-foot-9 Tryon said, "I prefer the taller receivers because I can control their bodies a little more. The little receivers are more shifty. I love to compete so I'm looking forward to guarding the T.O.s and the Chad Johnsons."
Asked what he brings as a kick returner, Tryon, who only had 12 returns in two years at Arizona State, said, "I bring explosion. Anytime I catch the ball, at least I'm going to get you to the 50."
Tryon, who attended two junior colleges before transferring to ASU, majored in education, but doesn't have any plans beyond the NFL.
"I was made for this," Tryon said. "I was made to play football. I bring love to the game, passion to the game. This is what I do day-in and day-out. It's the only thing I can do."

I must admit I am scratching my head at this one.

I love confidence in a corner. If he can just catch the ball, he'll be ahead of Rogers. Should be some competition for kick returner too, with this guy, Mathis, Rock, and ARE. Of course, none of the others can bring it to the 50 every time, so they face a big challenge.
