Day 2 of the NFL Draft is off and running and the Redskins' day starts with the 96th pick (third round) and offensive guard Chad Rinehart of Northern Iowa.
After a puzzling second round, this pick makes sense. The Redskins need to develop a backup guard/center because Randy Thomas, Pete Kendall and Casey Rabach are getting older and one thing the Redskins haven't done since the new coaching staff took over in 2004 is develop a swing guy.
A pick before the Redskins, the Giants took Michigan WR Mario Manningham. He's got off the field issues

Can anyone really make some sense out of the skins overall picks.I thought we needed a DE and maybe a LB with also another OL.It's clear to me they have looked to the the coming years and have folded their tent for being in the hunt now for any playoff hopes. There is but one football to throw.Last time I looked we had plenty of recievers and now have more than we need just as TE's.Not complaining about getting a WR,but we passed on or traded down without helping are pass rush, and took 1 guy on OL.Our team is unbalanced to say the least.Vinnie had a big grin on his face as if he hit a jackpot. We are in for a tough year to say the least.WE will be dead last in our division and will struggle every week to look better than an expansion team.

charlespuppy, you don't know squat. Everyone said the Redskins desparately needed DEs and DTs last year, and guess what, they made the playoffs after suffering injuries to 3 offensive linemen. No team with more than three posiitonal needs can fill every need in one draft, so filling 50% or more is sweet indeed. And that's what the Redskins did. Now it's free agent signing time, and the Skins always come away with a couple gems. They'll be very competitive, and have better depth than last year.

I'm hardly a puppy.Possible a Maddog!Iv'e seen more drafts and more football than you can fit in 2 life times kid.If your think the skins, much like the Lions and their draft of wide outs make since rush down to the store and buy their new jersies.Winning football starts in the trenches.Did anyone see how the Giants, without flashy WR got to the super bowl.Count the games the old fellows missed last year. It's always that way.No broken down lines carries a team to the next level.Nobody who sat down and talked football with me has said you don't know squat.I've missed but one Super Bowl Kid,and that was due to Viet Nam.I saw the beginning of the west coast with Sid Gillman.I'm sure you remember seeing him pace the side lines. If anyone does their homework, look up the D that got the west coast teams to the super bowl.Start with the 49ers as it was not that long ago,and see the defence which helped get them there. We have no Charles Haley, much less a Ronnie Lott.Remember the Hogs, and also Mann and Manley chasing the QB .But many who I deam as geek like ,think they know football by playing games and pushing buttons.did anyone pick up how Joe looked on the side line last year.Sad.But go ahead and be a homer and see playoffs.Lifes a bitch and then you die.P.S.You must remember the Greatest Game ever played right.Iv'e got their picture from 58 and 59 signed by some!!!!!!

"Did anyone see how the gians, without flashy WR, got to the superbowl?"
...um, for the record, plax is about as flashy as they come, and in case you haven't noticed, the giants drafted a wr in the second or third round for the last three consecutive years...
stop buying into the hype and have an original thought or two sometime....

You never learn.Me and Charlie Casserly said the same thing. They missed the boat with passing on the DL and OL.You young bloods seem to know it all.Keep to your fantasy football.Went from Greg Williams who has earned a great rep in the NFL and is lauded by Casserly as a great addition to his new team.On the other hand the Redskins are listed with two other teams who have more to do.The Giants did it on the ground and a overwelming rush to end an 18 game winning streak.Don't waste my time young bloods as were going no where with this issue.Wait and see as things will get going soon.and you should remember what mystical DOG is talking about. Will not repond to any ignorant fans who know JACK .Been a skin fan before you were born.I follow all teams.Try telling something I don't know..You must paint your face before each game, and have to wear a jersey.Skeet......
