Before the Caps and Flyers hit the ice for Game 3, here are my quick thoughts on the Redskins' schedule.
1. Having the earliest training camp opening and a late bye (week 10) spells trouble for a team with 11 starters in their 30s.
2. The first part of the home schedule isn't exactly fan-friendly. The biggest draw is New Orleans (Reggie Bush, Drew Brees and Deuce McAllister). No one will get very excited about the visits by the Cardinals, Saints or the AFC North favorite Browns.
3. The season could be already lost by the time Jim Zorn finally makes his return to Seattle in Week 12.

Riveting insight.
1. Zorn was a player. He'll know how to take it easy on the veterans.
2. The fans will still show up ... to see Zorn's offense, not the opponents.
3. Regardless of what their record is, the Zorn-to-Seattle game is still interesting.

Seems overly negative, David. I would think an early camp would be ideal for a new coach. A week 10 bye is 2/3 through the season, which I would call just about ideal. The team has age issues, no question, particularly on the O line. Hopefully, we can manage with some training camp pickups. If Jansen and Thomas can make it through the season, I'd say we are in pretty good shape, barring any other disasters. Fabini was adequate at guard.

Why are the Redskins fans so fair-weather and bandwagoneers? This team played competitively all year in the NFC East with every team , this team had a makeshift offensive line, 1 pass rushing defensive end, receivers who were hurt all year and a conservative offensive coach and they still made the playoffs..We have 9 freaking draft picks and if 4 o r5 of the picks can contribute immediately we have added quality depth...I love the Redskins but hate the fairweather fans!

David,
I agree with some of the other comments that you
are being very negative. The skins were very competitive and were hurt on the offensive line
and defensive backfield (DB's/LB's).
Three keys to get back to playoffs:
1. Cambell continue to grow.
2. Stay healthy specifically offensive line
3. Draft well DE / Big WR
I think we will be in the mix, just have to get
hot at the end. Look at Giants, they did not
look like a Super Bowl Champ for the majority
of the season and I believe if they would have
played the Seahawks it would have turned out
much differently.

Please don't forget that we have "The Danny Boy Owner" and "Vinny The Village Idiot General Manager" at the controls again this year. This is the big problem that the players cannot overcome:(!

I agree with most of the other comments.
The key points from last season:
1. Offensive game incoherent - for what ever reason.
2) Huge injuries along the whole front line, which started in pre-season and continued throughout the whole season.
3) Tragic death of Sean Taylor.
4) Some offensive play calling that left many bewildered when a game was on the line.
5) Lost some close games - only one blowout.
Zorn needs to know the players and their capabilities - and sooner than later. The way he runs the camp (intensity, duration, etc) is the key on negative impacts to a veteran players durability.
I prefer a later bye week - especially if you are in the position to get into the playoffs.
