A Redskins source said that Bengals star Chad Johnson isn't the only receiver about whom the team has inquired about acquiring. But as with Cincinnati, which rejected Washington's offer of the 21st pick in this weekend's draft and a conditional third-rounder in 2009, Arizona and Detroit turned down overtures regarding Anquan Boldin and Roy Williams, respectively.
The Redskins source added that Boldin and Williams, like Johnson, are both off the market.
Boldin, 27, and Williams, 26, aren't as hyped as Ocho Cinco, but the former reached 300 catches in the fewest games in NFL history and the latter has 28 touchdowns in just 44 career starts. And, at 6-foot-3, Williams definitely has the height that new Redskins coach Jim Zorn wants to add to his receiving corps.

If I were the Redskins, I would put all my effort in trying to aquire Roy Williams. The guy is big and he's a beast. Exactly what we need. He's only 26 years old. Chad Johnson is great but he's 30 years old already. He's at his peak now and will be on the decline soon. We can't afford to give away valuable draft picks and tons of money for that kind of player. Roy Williams is the guy you go after not Chad Johnson. Roy Williams is worth it and he may even come slightly cheaper then Chad.

The attempt to trade two high draft picks, including a number one for a 30 year old receiver proves that Cerrato is Snyder's lap dog. Talk about something dumb. Fans, get ready for several years of 8-8 or worse. The 'Skins, without a doubt have the dumbest front office in the league. The Dolphins will make the playoffs in two years and perhaps the bowl in three. Why? Because they hired people who can get them there. Where are they starting to build, the lines!!! Well duh!!!!!!

I honestly don't think the Skins brain trust is thinking through this properly. Out of maybe 60 snaps, a top WR gets maybe 8 to 10 balls a game thrown his way. If he catches 6, he's All Pro. A DE like Jared Allen is in the game maybe 40 plays, but he is in the middle of every one. Not only does he do his job, but he also makes the DBs and other linemen better. It makes sense to pay up for him, like the Vikes did. In fact, the Vikes are making a lot of smart moves compared to the Skins. They inked Steve Hutchinson, a top guard, to a big deal. Now they've helped their D immensely. They have the best RB in the league. They haven't gone nuts trying to get a QB. They're setting the table for one though.
Look at the Cowboys. They got a potential Pro Bowl corner for basically nothing. With Rogers out indefinitely and Springs getting older by the day, could we have found a place for Pacman?
We don't want these low character guys, they say. But we are ok with Mathis or Ocho. I don't really see the logic behind it. Maybe we'll muddle through again and be ok, but not because of any great plan.
We're trying to give away picks for aging knuckleheads.

Williams, he might be worth giving up some money and a draft pick vs picking at 21. $21 million , 21 st pick and another (or more) pick(s) for 30 year old Johnson seems ill-advised to me.
I still like the idea of trading down if the top players desired by the Redskins are unavailable, or if the best player, irrespective of position, just would not fit in with the Redskin offensive or defensive schemes.
Too many needs, too many aging linemen, a potential huge problem in defensive backfield (either Roger's injury, Doughty's ability, Springs age and injuries) need to be addressed starting with this draft.
Too many potentially decent WR's are available in this draft, even in the later rounds.

This is so typical of the "fantasy football' mentality of Snyder & Vinny: Who cares if the guy has a bad rep, does'nt fit the system and is not about team, as long as he is a big name lets overpay him & mortgage the future to get him. This is why the skins will never return to the glory days as long as Snyder is running the show!!!!

Let's see, the West Coast Offense tosses a lot of quick slant passes that they want wideouts to break for long touchdowns (a la Jerry Rice). So our Front Office goes and tries to trade for Chad Johnson, a Deep Threat receiver that does not break tackles but can maybe talk a corner off of him. The exact opposite of a West Coast Wideout. Our Front Office, nothing but big brains there.

Here comes the D and V show again. When are these two clowns going to forget playing games with a once proud football team and get a good General Manager.

There was a time I'd be sick to my stomach, hearing that the 'Skins were about to give away THE FARM for a trouble-maker - personified!!! Not anymore.
Not since the midget owner/GM bought the team, proceded to fire the GM (CC), retained the coach (Norvaless), and basically has made a laughingstock of the franchise since then.
Now, just thinking of the tragic-comedy that are the Snydermen, I lick my chops at the thought of Chad (CANCER) Johnson paired with a coach that seems challenged just to know where the restrooms at Redskins' Park are.
Maroon & Black was just the beginning. Now, every interview has him expounding on his lack of any tools resembeling a head coach in the NFL. "I think we play an extra game, someone said, that should help", he was recently heard saying.
May Minicamp around the corner, and Zorn is saying he hasn't had time to make a playbook; in fact he has no idea what to put in it. (See never even been a coordinator, much less a head coach). I think he's outsourced Jimmy Raye to do half of it and the other half Steve Spurrier is doodling on a napkin for him. 'Be here a couple weeks after Mini-Camp.
He's also now saying he sure wishes he was a five-year vet headcoach, but is trying to sit thru three hour meetings without falling asleep! (It does take practice, Jim. True.
I have to anticipate the wealth of gem-highlights of he and Oucha-Stinko, having at each other. Oh, the fun next season is going to be! Thank You, Dano!!!

Claude, you make some good points about Zorn, but I wouldn't worry too much. Could the offense really get any worse than it was last year? If the O can just keep from giving the opponents more points on turnovers than they score themselves, they will be several games ahead of last year. Also, the ability to get the occasional TD with a first and goal to go would help a lot. Zorn will look like a genius if he can accomplish those modest objectives.

If the Snydermen become the benefactors of Lady Luck, they may get to "several games ahead of last year." That will be the only way! If they win eight games, it will be a minor miracle. By my count, that will be several games "BEHIND" last year.
As far as "Zorn looking like a genius"? Wow! I guess that would be tantamount to George W. completing an entire sentence without stumbling? Not gonna happen in this lifetime, my friend.
