Jason Campbell joined a huge list of NFL starting quarterbacks who have their own charity golf tournaments when he hosted the Jason Campbell Classic at Lowes Island Club in Fairfax County.
Campbell was joined by several teammates, including Chris Cooley, Santana Moss, Clinton Portis, Fred Smoot, Carlos Rogers, Kedric Golston, Todd Yoder, Ryan Boschetti, Antwaan Randle El, Derrick Frost, Sam Hollenbach, Vernon Fox, Reed Doughty, Leigh Torrence, Shaun Suisham and Rock Cartwright. Darrell Green was in Campbell's group.
Before teeing off, Campbell gave the thumbs up to the drafting of Devin Thomas, Fred Davis and Malcolm Kelly last weekend.
"I thought we had a really good draft simply because we already had two good receivers with Randle El and Santana, two guys who can catch it and make things happen," Campbell said. "Now we add two guys, it's going to make us more dynamic. We have those four guys plus Anthony [Mix] and James [Thrash].
"It's a deep position, which means a lot because last year, we had a lot of groin and hamstring injuries. Now, we can throw guys in there and still continue to be successful."
Campbell said Cooley is the best golfer on the Redskins and Frost is a close second. Told of this Frost said that wasn't saying much. And out on the course, I got what Frost was saying. It wasn't pretty.
Said Campbell beforehand: "I'm scared for a lot of people standing around these players. A club may fly out of a guy's hands, there might be 10 balls in the water. Some of these guys, it's their first time playing."

Is there any doubt what is happening in the mind of Jim Zorn? The man is hellbent on throwing the ball! And lets face it for all Santana Moss' talent he is too small to really be a featured reciever in the west coast offense. Lets look at the facts, the NFC east is going to be tough to throw in with Assante Samuels in Philly and Pacman Jones possibly moving to Dallas. You have to have big bodies in there. Bring in the rookies! Randle-El is not the threat he was brought in to be. Solid but not scaring anybody. Now lets not forget that Colt Brennan was drafted to develop behind Collins and Campbell. He was brought in to throw! Need I say more? Now add those new rookie recievers and the Clinton/Betts ground game and the Redskins should (should) be able to compete with anyone.

The Redskin offense averaged like 14-16 points under Gibbs and if they were winning or trailing at halftime they playd conservative and not to lose now potentially with more receivers who have the opportunity to be productive they can attack whther they are winning or losing and the guard thatthey draft can start now

DEFENSE wins championships. Look at what the Giants did to the best offense in league when they won the superbowl. I'm disapointed with the defense selections, especially being because the Skins are in the toughest division in football.

Well I think we had good defense, it's really the only reason we went as far as we did. You'd be hard pressed to find a playoff team that won games averaging 16pts/game.

they had a top 10 defense last year, the passing game is waht really hurt them so the additons might help out but its to early to say.

The Redskins are an average team. The defensive and offensive line is aging and injury prone. Hopefully Jansen and Thomas can stay healthy all year. It is mind boggling to me they did not get a pass rushing end @ #21 or 34. Cerrato and Snyder did a decent job in the draft overall but with such pressing needs elsewhere I am not sure about getting Fred Davis. Next year are they gonna draft 3 more receivers because thats what their board tells them?? Our offense will do as well as Jason Campbell can take us. He has not been very consistent in his accuracy or decision making and the dreaded red zone efficiency has FOR SURE not been good. I'm not sure the Skins would have made the playoffs had it not been for Todd Collins.
