Redskins name new PR chief

The Redskins just made official what had been circulating through the D.C. Media Gossip Circle since Saturday at the Verizon Center: Wizards PR chief Zack Bolno has been hired as the Redskins' Executive Director of Communications.

Bolno will be in charge of dealing with us media know-it-alls and will join the Redskins once the Wizards' season is over.

For the last four seasons, Bolno has been the Wizards' Director of Public Relations. He replaces Chris Helein with the Redskins.

Expressing an opinion on the hire, this is a positive move by the Redskins. While disappointed they parted ways with Helein, I think it's important they hired a person who a) has knowledge of the D.C. media/sports scene, b) had run their own shop with another team and c) had previous NFL experience. Before joining the Wizards, Bolno spent five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which included their Super Bowl XXXVII season.

big deal. Just another lackey who will be spreading the "Wisdom of Danny" to the masses who pay the overpriced ticket prices.

Does this mean they're getting rid of Larry Michael?

Ro, if he doesn't play football. Who really cares?? If he is not a receiver over 6'2" or can't rush opposing quarterbacks. Who really care?? John M.

This is a great move by the Skins. It's about time they get someone who can shape their image the way the Wizards had their image re-shaped.

While Bolno had little to do with the improvement of the Wizards on the court, his PR skills and personality with the media have made the Wizards meaningful to Washington and the national scene. The Redskins and Snyder are lucky to have him with their organization. Watch out National Media!!!

If he is not a Gm or player, save the ink.

Great move! I met the guy at a few wizards games, and he helped get an autograph for my daughter from Etan! She worships Etan and now sings the praises of Bolno! Gooooo Hogs!

This guy is a real class act. He played a large part in getting a lot of the big name Buc players at my firm's charity events when he was in Tampa. Good move by the Skins!

He has big shoes to fill as Chris Helein was one of the best in the business and was well respected by his NFL peers, local reporters and national media. It appears that Bolno is a very solid hire at this point, but Snyder should have kept a great thing when he had it. Hopefully Bolno will have better luck with Snyder than his predecessors.
