An NFL source just told me that Seattle receiver D.J. Hackett will become the first free agent to visit Redskin Park when he comes on Wednesday night, nearly two weeks after the signing period started.
Hackett, 26, caught just 32 passes for 384 yards and three touchdowns last year, but he knows new coach Jim Zorn well from their four years together with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound Colorado product has the size the Redskins have been seeking to complement undersized holdovers Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El.

He did that in just 6 games. He also torched the Redskins in the playoffs with six catches for 101 yards and one touchdown. The guy is good when he's healthy. He's only 26 yrs old and knows Zorn's offense. I am definately in favor of signing this guy if we can get him for cheap.

D. J. Hackett? 32 receptions, 10.2 ypc, and 3 TD's? I doubt this is exactly what many fans were looking for in a big, talented wide out to complement the other Redskin receivers.
One thing is for sure, though: He has got to be a far better performer than Lloyd was.
If they can get him cheap and let him compete for a starting job, along with - hopefully - a high draft pick WR, then go for it.

Nope, i dont think so. IF they sign Hackett, WR is not gonna be a priority in the draft, being a DE or a DT in the wishlist. (OL too, but in lower rounds)

I hope the Redskins sign Hackett. With an expected 3rd round compensatory pick forthcoming, the Redskins will now have 4 picks in the first 3 rounds and should select in some combination: DE, WR, CB, G. Hackett is young enough to succeed Moss or Randle El as a starter in 2 years and the young draft pick at WR should be ready to become a starter in 2 years as well. I hope Vinny Cerato can see the longterm impact of this signing. It could be important.

I agree with you all, if the Skins could get him at a low price he would be worth taking a chance on. He has allot of talent and size , but, so did Lloyd. Its has been known that he is lazy in practices. I'm still trying to fine out more on his attitude. Coach Zorn knowing him is a real plus. And if he comfortable with him,I'm all for it. I wouldn't give up the farm for him, because, my understanding is the Skins will receive extra draft picks do their losses last year. If that is so, there are other tall receivers in the draft. So, will see. The salary cap is a big issue, and they have to do a much better job with it.. Save some money for the future... It would be nice if we could get about 30 Million under the cap. Thats just about what we have in dead money. We still have allot of age on this team. John M.
