Maroon and black? [David Elfin]

Jim Zorn might be the new head coach, but he has a little to learn about the Redskins.

He referred to the team colors as maroon and black.

And you should have seen Dan Snyder and Viny Cerrato blanche when Zorn raved about the Redskins starting the Buffalo game on Dec. 2 with 10 players on defense.

That was the idea of Gregg Williams, who was fired as assistant head coach/defense. And Joe Gibbs, then the coach, didn't know about it, which became a major point of controversy after that loss to the Bills.

I think his exact refernece was to "maroon, black and yellow". One would think that a little research into the compnay who is conducting your interview should be in order. Instead, when invited to interview, Zorn left and returned with a suit and tie. I guess that really clinched it!

Watching the news conference, this guy is about as insprational as a slice of white toast.

Oh well, here we go again.............

Zorn did not give us any comfort in his press conference. The mistakes with respect to team colors and the use of 10 players in the Buffalo game are troublesome. Plus he spoke like a 24 year old instead of a 54 year old and he had to check with Dan Snyder before he made certain comments. The skins management put Zorn in a position that so far he has shown he is not qualified to hold. If Zorn is so good why did no other NFL team want him as offensive coordinator, much less head coach. Lets all remember that the skins can get worse as a result of this poor decision, say a record of 1 and 15 or 3 and 13. Unless a miracle happens I predict a hugh sale of brown paper bags to fans to wear at the home games. In addition, this decision should make a lot of fans of the Eagles, Giants, Cowboys and Ravens very happy. As a long time skins fan of over 50 years, I could not be more depressed and discouraged.

I dont care but i would like for us to start wearing our burgunday uniforms at home and if he wins this year and takes us to the playoffs people will not say anything. This is not the Ball Coach this offense has produced eight super nine super bowl titles five in san fran two in denver one in green bay one in tampa bay and it does with with a strong armed qb

Just like Angelos has ruined the Orioles with his "i know baseball better than baseball people know baseball" ownership style, Snyder has turned the Redskins into a laughing stock; blowing up in just 3 weeks the 4 years of Gibbs' foundation rebuilding. P.S. Ralph Freidgen, whom has won coaching on the collegiate level as well as the NFL, is right here in the Skins' backyard, but all we got is a non-soughtafter position coach to lead the team. Lil P doesn't deserve us fans.

Stop all this whining and give this man a chance hell the Redskins madde the playoffs last year with an inept offense. If coach Zorn opens up the offense and tutors Jason Campbell on the intricate details and nuisances of playing quarterback we will be fine.

How quickly we forget Campbell never got to practice on a regular basis with his starting receivers due to injuries, benching, or coaches just being old and stubborn...Plus half the dam starting offensive line was out most of the year and Portis was playing hurt!

Do you so called fans actually believe the NY Giants are that much better than the Redskins? If so you don't know football

Steve, I agree with you one-thousand percent.

I'm as tired as everyone with the crap that seems to go on year-to-year, but give this man a chance to prove himself before we label him as a failure.

If he finishes 8-8 next season, it's a step back, but not a failure.

Now if the Skins finish 5-11, then we can start the mudslinging.

Steve,

Most fans don't now football. They think they do. The team has the same chance of winning or losing if Mariucci or Fassell was hired. I wish people would get over themselves. Fans are fair weather anymore and not of just this team. Most fans dog their team after a loss, having no clue as to why a team loses.

I bet that once coach Zorn starts to show that he is able to do so, most of the comments you read will be "...i knew it all along..." Just give the dude a chance.

Gibbs hired an offensive coach (Al Sanders)then hamstrung him by refusing to take the gloves off and let the offense go. Blache was the defensive coordinator for the Bears for five years before coming here. Give Zorn a chance. Maybe he'll be more than you ever expected. If not then you know the Danny and his Boy Wonder will be out there with wads of cash in hand looking for the next great thing whether it can coach or not.

Yo i think jim zorn will do ok we have to give him a chance he made some good points in the press conference like how jason cambell is real tall so he has to squats to much to take snaps and that he can't be explosive (that was just one example) i think we will be all right plus if our offensive line stays healthy and the rumors are true with us trying to trade for chad johnson him alone will open things up for moss and randle el lets give him a chance im pretty excited for next season.

Gibbs did not hire Al Saunders. It was packaged that way, but Danny Boy was the one that brought him in. Does it really seem logical that Gibbs would bring in a guy who has an offensive philosophy completely opposite from what Gibbs wanted to run? Danny Boy wanted a pass-happy offense, so he brought in Al. Danny, The did not want the backlash that would come from him overriding Gibbs when it came to coaching philosophy, so being the diplomat that Gibbs is, the team packaged it as Gibbs wanting to be relieved of offensive play-calling to focus on other duties. I will never buy that Gibbs wanted Al with the team.
