Collins back. Brunell out? [David Elfin]

The Redskins just announced that Todd Collins has re-signed.

Collins' return likely spells the end of Mark Brunell's four-year tenure in Washington. The 37-year-old Brunell, Washington's No. 1 quarterback for most of 2004-06, was demoted to third-string in 2007. His contract voided this week. Brunell has told the Redskins he wants to be a backup in 2008 and they are looking to find a young third-stringer to develop.

I'm glad to see this, although I don't totally understand it from Collins' side. Rams must not have made him much of an offer.

Collins looks to me like the kind of QB who can be effective in the west coast scheme, which does not really require someone with a cannon.

So, do we have a QB controversy brewing in DC?

Not by a mile, Zorn has already told that Campbell is HIS QB, and that he wants Collins as an insurance in case of injury

I'm not so sure. If Campbell plays like he did last year, fans are going to start remembering Collins' leading the team to four wins. Zorn better too, if he wants to be more than a one year coach.

Who gives the team a better chance to win? The numbers say Collins.

This will be Campbell's 4th year in the league (3rd playing) and he has a 77.3 career passer rating. "Potential" last only so long - and remember, Collins played because of an injury last year. I'd say the odds are pretty strong he starts more than 5 games this year whether due to another Campbell injury or poor play.

The time for mixed results from JC is over. He either flourishes in the WCO or the experiment is a failure.
I hope Zorn doesn't wait until the season is at a loss before inserting TC in the line up if all JC is doing is throwing duds.

Collins, may have won a few games, but i do not believe he is that good. Campbell would have done better if the play calling was geared to our talent.
