Day 2 Combine wrap [Ryan O'Halloran]

INDIANAPOLIS -- Leftovers from various Redskins officials here at the NFL Scouting Combine.

* Coach Jim Zorn on the whirlwind last few weeks: "I didn't really know what to expect but I've been observing head coaches for a long time and there are obligations, there are various facets that each head coach has to accomplish during the day. I'm not surprised. I'm trying to do the best I can to accommodate the requests and accomplish the things that are necessary."

* Zorn on if he has a feel for the Redskins' personnel: "No. If I do for a feel, it's really on the surface. Once you're around the guys in practice and meetings and you see the work ethic, see if they are any whiners, see what guys come ready to work. That's when I'll have a better feel for what the team is about."

* Zorn on a different role for him at the Combine: "What's really been different is I get to see all the players instead of the quarterbacks only. That's been quite different. I've seen some really good looking wide receivers. What I'm trying to do is sit next to the position coach or next to Scott Campbell and talk about the guys so I can get up the speed because I don't know about the other positions."

* Minnesota coach Brad Childress on reports that WR Troy Williamson is on the trade block: "We've spoken to his agent and his agent has the ability to go out there and see what's out there for him."

* St. Louis football operations chief Billy Devaney on investigating the checkered past of RB Darren McFadden: "We have to delve into that stuff. There's just been some red flags, some obvious stuff. Sure, if you're thinking about taking a guy that high (No. 2), absolutely, you have to cover everything."

* Packers coach Mike McCarthy on when quarterback Brett Favre will make a decision about playing in 2008: "I haven't talked to Brett this week. We talk weekly. Nothing's really changed. It's really the same message I gave last week when I talked about it. It's a personal decision. He's played a lot of football and he wants to make sure he's 100 percent committed if he comes back."

* Houston coach Gary Kubiak on hiring 28-year old Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator: "I don't worry about the age. The thing that's important to me is that you see they can handle the veteran players. In this case, there are going to be a few players older than Kyle when he walks into a meeting room. But watching him handle players, the way they respect him, the way he goes about his job, there's no fear factor for him talking to a 32-year old guard who's been in the league for 10 years."
