Quarterback Mark Brunell's contract was just voided, saving the Redskins $3.4 million against the salary cap and getting them under the $116 million limit more than 30 hours before the 11:59 PM Thursday deadline. This doesn't mean Brunell, 37, won't be back for a fourth season in Washington. But it does mean if he does return, it will be at a much more sensible price.

The skins continuously overpay these overrated free agents. It doesn't work. Snyder only wants to fill the house in Landover. He creates excitement but gets little results.

You can't knock a owner who pays players trying to win. That's what Mr. Snyder does and what fan wouldn't want Dan the Man as their owner? I believe Dan Snyder wants to win in Washington.

LOL accually its alot of fans (me being one of them) who wouldn't want a owner who is gonna go out and try to buy a team instead of "build" one... When Gibbs started to "build" a team what happened? We go a pair of good and fairly young backs, a pair of great fairly young receivers and the defense speaks for its self as far as youth and productivity. Dan the Man can have all this by just thinking before he "swipes his black card"

I have been a SKINS fan for over 30 years and I think Snyder is a great owner willing to spend his money to try to get the TALENT in Washington. I feel a lot of the faults on the team aren't his fault but the GM's and scouts ETC. They tell him what they want and he signs the checks just wish it would pay off for all of us.

Just to update Brian - The Redskins don't have a GM. They haven't had one since Charley Casserley was let go years ago. This year they promoted Vinny Cerrato to Director of Football Operations but I'm not sure that's a GM either. Snyder has gotten better as an owner over the years but he does like the big name players. Unfortunately they are either at the tail end of their careers, head cases or both (see Bruce Smith, Jeff George and Dieon Sanders respectively). The Skin's need a football guy who will tell Snyder what to spend money on and when to spend it. They also need someone who will stnd up to Snyder and tellhim he is being an idiot without worrying about being fired. As I said Snyder has been better the past few years as he bowed down and worshiped the ground Joe Gibbs walked on. I hope he doesn't returned to his money happy, big name grabbing and meddling ways now that Gibbs is gone.

Have people forgotten that Gibbs himself was responsible for Brandon Lloyd, Adam Archuleta, throwing in a 2nd round pick and Champ Bailey for Portis, trading two picks for Jason Campbell, trading a 2nd round pick to select Cooley in the 3rd round, trading 3rd and 4th round picks for Lloyd, trading 2nd and 3rd picks for Rocky McIntosh, and 3rd round pick for unwanted Mark Brunell, a 5th round pick for unwanted James Thrash. Gibbs. What restraint or standing up to Snyder? Please...he was worse than Snyder. We were consistently fleeced for players and coaches under Gibbs.

For Tramell, Ok let look at the trade closely please, first 2nd round pick for cooley? If cooley a pro bowler and wosrt more than 2nd round now? That a smart move by Mr. Gibbs. 2nd and 3rd for rocky ummmm rockey was having a good year for redskins before he got hurt. 5th round for james Thrash, Thrash is not will never be a starter he is special team stand out. Thrash is hell of a special team player. Mark Brunell If take the redskins to playoff first year.. so 3rd for brunell is fair on both end.
