Cerrato gets promotion [Ryan O'Halloran]

In what can only be read as bad news for Gregg Williams' future with the Washington Redskins, the team announced moments ago that Vinny Cerrato has been promoted to Executive Vice President/Football Operations.

Cerrato, who previously held the title of VP/Football Operations, will assume responsibility of personnel, the roster, scouting and salary cap management.

It is widely believed that one of the major holdups in Dan Snyder hiring Williams is the potential for conflict between Williams and Cerrato. This move clearly indicates Snyder wants to keep Cerrato.

Translation: The new power structure with the Redskins could be Snyder-Cerrato-Jim Fassel.

This is totally ridiculous, Cerrato gets a promotion for what? what has he done to help the Redskins organization grow or win games?

Hiring yes men is no tthe way to win championships you need people who can standup to one another and argue professionally about the direction an organization should go.

Big deal Vinny and Gregg Williams don't like one another the common denominator is they should be able to work well enough to win...If they hire Fassel what happpens to Jason Campbell? Al Saunders the freaking 700 play book that he was just starting to grasp? What about the defensive gems that Williams was able to find and polish and make them productive and now the free agents on the team if I were them there is no way I restructure anything..All theat Gibbs put together Danny is tearing apart and its a got dam shame

All of that talk about Snyder learning patience from Joe Gibbs; of learning how to be a better owner. All of it is for naught with this. He has learned nothing. Did the Squire meddle like this? I will not pay money to sit at FedEx if Mr. Snyder is going to tear apart a team that came together so well down the stretch despite missing a third of what was a dominant offensive line from the previous year; With injuries among its biggest stars; and with the death of its greatest athlete. Fassel's hiring would be a slap in the face of every player in that locker room. It is his team, but Mr. Snyder will prove himself foolish yet again. His missteps in the past could be given to simply being brash and naive. If he hires Fassel, it proves that he all those kind words of respect and adoration for Coach Gibbs were just words and that he has learned nothing.

This is a JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jim Fassel is not going to garner respect in the locker room this team is going to be the laughing stock of the whole league. SNYDERMAN is a maniacal goofball Jim Fassel is a average coach at best why not give Greg a chance, Vinnie Cerrato better hope he never gets fired because his front office lifespan is that of a housefly, living here in the ATL I wore my SKINS colors with great pride always thinking that with Joe Gibbs at least I had a reason to beat my chest about my team, now I just don't know this is sad day for all SKINS fans.

Snyder,
Please do all of the faithfull & loyal Redskins fans who have stuck w/ the team for years and the players a favor....sell the team!!!!!
You obviously have no clue what you are doing and do not have the sense to hire a GM to run the team like it should be run. You have made this once proud franchise a complete joke and the stability that Joe Gibbs brought to the team is obviously going to be flushed down the toilet. Go back to your wheeling & dealing in the board room or whatever you did before. Please sell the franchise to someone who has an idea on how to run a football team.
P.S. Take your pet yes man Vinny w/ you, he's no better than you are!!!!!!!!!!!

The Snydermen should now be coached by the mega-midget owner/GM HIMSELF!!!!!

Of course, he would rather play fantasy football and name a puppet as head coach (someone else he can blame) - one that has already given all authority of the hiring of coaches and roster moves back to the little owner/GM and his pet fetch-a-lot-boy, Vinny, the goggle-eyed wonder.

"Laughingstock" is a good word to describe the once proud franchise. It took only a couple weeks for lil' Snyder to dismantle what had taken Gibbs four years to assemble.

As long as the young (blind) fans buy everything "Snydermen", Dano will be content. Sales NOT winning is his only REAL goal. That should be obvious to anyone that's been watching (and not totally blind) since his ownership began.

All Hail lil' Dano!
