The Washington Redskins released a statement moments ago saying that injured safety Sean Taylor was the victim of a shooting in his south Florida home.
The Miami Herald is reporting on its website that Miami-Dade patrol officers received a call around 1:45 a.m. this morning that a homeowner had been shot in the groin area. The house, located at 18050 Old Cutler Road, lists Taylor as the owner.
According to police, the male homeowner heard intruders in the back of the house. The homeowner — believed to be Taylor — was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Taylor has missed the last two games with a knee injury sustained against Philadelphia.

This incident is a shame. I hope Sean and his family survive this and come out stronger, but it is sad how 'bad things' seem to happen to those who have a history of bad judgment.
I'm a 46-year old 'Skins fan who has followed the team since Vince Lombardi's lone season as Head Coach, but I can see through my burgundy and gold glasses enough to know Sean's lack of good judgment and reckless nature were just below the surface of his newfound maturity. If this shooting was just a random act of big city violence, that's too bad...but is interesting how things of this nature happen to the Sean Taylors of the world more so than the Darrell Greens of the world.
Sincere thoughts and best wishes to the Taylor family. Hope Sean has a speedy recovery and can resume his career and provide a safe and happy home for his family.

It's a shame that people want to make comments like "does this mean he won't be there for the dallas game" Some people need to look at themselves in the mirror before making comments of such negativity! What if this one of your family members?... Grow up people!!!

I CANT BELIEVE YOU PEOPLE YOU ARE NOT TRUE FANS OF THE HUMAN RACE MUCH LESS THE REDSKINS. WHAT IDIOT IS GOING TO ASK DOES THIS MEAN HE WONT BE THERE FOR THE DALLAS GAME WHILE THE MAN IS FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE. ALSO TO SUGGEST THAT HE SOMEWHAT DESERVED THIS FROM PREVIOUS LACKS OF JUDGEMENTS IS COMPLETLY UNCALLED FOR MR. 46YR OLD FAN. IM SURE IN YOUR EARLIER YEAR YOU DID THING YOUR NOT PROUD OF THAT GIVE SOMEONE THE RIGHT TO COME IN YOUR HOUSE AND TRY TO TAKE YOUR LIFE THAT COULD HAVE VERY WELL BEEEN HIS CHILD THAT GOT SHOT.WOULD HE HAVE DESERVED THAT TOO?
YOU PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK!!

For anyone to suggest bad judgment and rallying for a football game is more important than the life of a human being only reflects the narrow minded society we are living in and whats really important. Sean is a very young man who has demonstrated his talents well enough to make the team as a Redskin. Everyone has their flaws, even you Mr. Long-time fan. Just think it could be your child, nephew, uncle, or friend. Lets just pray that he makes a full recovery. Peace amongst the small minded people.

the 46 yr old is just stating reality, why dont you all get a grip of it. It being-REALITY even if it was a nephew, uncle or whatever, even loves ones make mistakes and/or get hurt as a result. Being nice and sympathetic shouldn't rob us of our sense of REALITY.

you'll should be shame of yourself the earlier trouble he got in was because he was defending his home so now he gets shot because a stupid judge says he can't have a gun so he had to defend his family with a knife in a gun fight . thats he sure HERO TO ME GOD BLESS SEANS AND HIS FAMILY!

There is more to this story than meets the eye.
1. If he couldn't fly with the team because of his knee what whas he doing down there without permission?
2.If the intruder kicked down his bedroom door and shot him why not the girlfriend too?
3.Sounds like payback or some other illegal conductto me.

Rated in decreasing levels of I.Q., there's the Idiot, the imbecile, a moron, and then "ER", the throwback who asks the question "Does this mean he won't be there for the dallas game..." DUH!!!
ER, when people are in critical condition:
a. They are close to dying
b. No, dumb-ass, he won't be physically capable of playing football near death..Or for a long time thereafter, if ever again at all.
I sure hope Sean lives...Football is secondary to normal people
Classic knuckleheads like this fool are exactly the reason insane asylums exist. My question is: ER, did you reproduce? I sure hope not.

My MY MY my first thoughts are with S.T. and his family and friends in the time of crisis> Just as i pray for Sean as a long time Redskin fan(36 years to be exact) I also pray for the troops overseas and the poor individuals all over the world who are in need. Is this the year of the Black athelete in turmoil or what> Some will speculate about this recent event, did Sean play a role in this?? is this payback?? Truly only he really knows. Now is not the time to speculate or criticize. Now is a time for prayer
and not just for Sean but others who are physically hurt as he is> And bigger than that pray for our Country and the World for that sake;
and believe it or not the sick individual that did this needs just as much prayer. There is a sickness in my World and yous that only God can cure. It really is a game(life) of inches
Good luck #21 #36 AKA Nasty

Just read early a.m. here in Hawaii that Sean died...This world is really screwed up, all the way around.
Maybe now "ER" finally realizes Sean won't be playing in the Dallas game...Or any other ones. Forever.
ER, whoever you are: This man fought for his life after taking a bullet, and lost, and your only comment is to ask is he going to play in the next game? That's about as low-down calloused as one can be. if you haven't already, please, please, PLEASE go get sterilized tomorrow. As screwed up as this world is, it certainly, and for sure doesn't need more heartless, unseeing, uncaring humans like you taking up space.

This whole thing of athletes getting in trouble with the law like fighting in clubs, (bars/liquor stores)baffles me.I know some people would say they shouldn't forget who they are when they turn pros, but the thing is they've worked really hard to get to this point and i'm not saying they shouldn't socialize with past frends...but there are times they got to learn to say no.I guess at some point in his life, he happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time all b'cos he couldn't say no.....
