Here's video of Rep. Pete Stark apologizing for saying U.S. troops are being sent to Iraq "to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."
Another apology. Does it make anyone feel any better? Just the latest hollow exercise in meaningless mea culpas.
Of course the original comment is offensive! Gracious, what's so wrong with offensive?
What has happened to the country where loudmouths like Stark, or Al Sharpton, or Don Imus, or Rush Limbaugh, or Anne Coulter once had the right to be controversial, blunt, or even stupid?

How can you possibly link Rush Limbaugh to the likes of "Pete" Starks or Imus? Their remarks were insulting and insensitive, Limbaugh's "phony soldiers" remark was aimed at one specific group of leftists- soldiers who lied about their activities.

Al Sharpton, Don Imus, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter are not members of Congress. Their words are opinion and bear little responsibility or accountability other than slander. Stark was elected by the people to speak for the people as a professional, not a talk show host.

There is a lot "wrong with offensive." We should strive not to be offensive. But, even more to the point, Congressman Stark was speaking on the floor of the House! He should take more care with what he says. His words should have been taken down. Shame on the Democrat leadership for being political and not doing so.
Oh, and while people have the right to be offensive, others also have the right to criticize. The difference is that one is merely a right and the other is the right thing to do.

Just goes to prove that not all nuts are in the asylums--some of them managed to get in the U.S. Congress
