Robots invade Kennedy Center

The Robotopia Rising exhibit is part of the Kennedy Center's "Japan! Culture + Hyper Culture" festival. Honda's ASIMO is a humanoid helper, and the Toyota Partner Robot can play the trumpet. The Actroid DER2 is so lifelike you might mistake it for a real human at first. Other robots on display include Paro, a stuffed seal used for therapeutic purposes, Wakamaru, the Mitsubishi robot, and a cute robo-dog. The festival runs through Feb. 17, and it's free.

"Robbie,....where have you been?" "I've Beamed and Beamed."......."Sorry miss." "I've been giving myself an Oil-job." How long before we we get REAL Robot companions, instead of modestly preprogrammed, motorized Mannequins? "You Bubble-headed boobie."

I really enjoyed the humanoid-type,--the "18 yr-old two years in the making", but an area which I can suggest for improvement, would be around the mouth, where the finer movements of speaking are degraded/absent from no "robot-ization" of the circular muscles around the mouth in the human, and with what appears to be the jaw simply moving up-and-down at times. Still a brilliant effort on a "sweet, young woman robot."

Today the steps...tommorow...THE WORLD!
