Bruce Boudreau spent nearly two decades as a coach in the minor leagues before the Washington Capitals gave him an opportunity to be a head coach in the National Hockey League. The result has been phenomenal. The team with the worst record in the NHL when Boudreau was hired has gone through an improbable renaissance and enters the final seven weeks of the season right in the middle of the hunt for the Southeast Division title, and its first playoff berth in four seasons.
