« One down, 15 to go | Main | Ovechkin's first goal »

Playoff nerves

Jeff Schultz said he thinks he is ready to go for Game 2 for tomorrow. Bruce Boudreau said Schultz will take the warmup skate tomorrow (there is no morning skate because of the matinee start) and then they will decide if he is ready.

A lot of the guys who played in their first playoff game last night talked today about how they were more nervous before the game than they are used to, but it was clearly more relaxed at K-Plex today.

Case in point: Mike Green was fielding questions from a new member of the media contingent, none other than Alex Ovechkin. He was impatiently waiting for Green to do another interview together, so he grabbed a microphone and started asking questions.

Ovechkin: How you feel when I jump on you?
Green: What?
Ovechkin: How you feel when I jump on you when you score second goal?
Green: I always get a little nervous ... when you chase me.
Ovechkin: It was pretty sick, right?
Green: Uh, yeah.

More evidence of the growing Caps hysteria: While Bruce Boudreau was trying to conduct his post-practice interview, he was startled by the shrill of several dozen girls screaming. The reason was Brooks Laich had just come off the ice, and there were calling to him to come sign autographs. After a couple of quick quips about Laich's popularity, Boudreau had to ask for the question to be asked again and the scrum continued.

Finally, there are still plenty of people around and the Flyers are about 15 minutes from taking the ice. I'll have an update later after they skate.
