« Caps on HD in NoVa | Main | Gameday (finally) »

One day to go

The Caps went through the final full practice before their first playoff series in five years, and words like restless and anticipation were getting tossed around a lot in the dressing room.

Defenseman Shaone Morrisonn said he is ready to go and expects to be in the lineup tomorrow night against the Flyers. Jeff Schultz did not want to be so bold, saying he will see how he feels tomorrow. But he clearly wants to play and if there isn't a setback tomorrow morning I expect to see him on the ice. He did skate with Tom Poti today during some drills. John Erskine and Milan Jurcina were the third pair, which means Steve Eminger might be the odd man out again.

Here a few thoughts from after practice:

Alex Ovechkin: "Yeah, I am of tired of you guys. [Laughter ensues] No, I just want to play. I just want go to the ice and feel this energy, feel the crowd. I can't wait for it."

"This town is crazy right now. There are people screaming at my house like, 'Let's go Caps,' and 'We believe.' People bring to my door letters that say, 'Go Caps, we believe and bring us Stanley Cup.' It is pretty amazing. It is great feeling."

Bruce Boudreau: "They're anxious. They want to play. Especially when you watch other teams play and you see the intensity of those games last night and the hitting and the sacrifice people are making. Everybody wants to get involved in that and we're looking forward to gettin' going tomorrow."

George McPhee: "The last part of the season was an incredible grind and obviusly we made history with that run and that's kind of neat. As a club I think we needed some time to decompress because you can only produce so much adrenaline. We needed a little time off and I think they've built it back up and we're ready to go."

"I think it should be a really good series. I don't know if anyone knows who is going to win. When you look at some of the other series and well if Team A plays its best and Team B plays its best, Team A is going to win. I don't think you can say that about this series."

Great quotables, Corey. Thx for the update. The Friday start is just painful but with the injuries probably a blessing. I'm really interested to see how BB gets this team going out of the gate in game 1.

If the Caps play their best, there's no way the Flyers win this series. But that's just mho.

Corey you must be swimming in a veritable sea of quotes right now, and I'm not talking about that salty sea in Israel.

Though Eminger is probably out I'm glad to see the Caps finally have depth across the board this year.
