« More pre-game musings | Main | Surgery for Nylander, Clark out »

Monday morning update

Caps practice is underway here at K-Plex. Alex Ovechkin, Michael Nylander, Chris Clark and Brian Pothier are not out there. Clark (groin), Nylander (shoulder) and Pothier (head) all have ailments of some varying degree that we know of and Ovechkin may just be getting a rest after playing more than 25 minutes last night. Clark only took one shift in the third period last night in his first game back after missing 18. I am sure we will get an update of some kind on all of them after practice.

Here is the way things are configured, for what it is worth:

Pettinger-Backstrom-Kozlov
Semin-Laich-Fleischmann
Laing-Steckel-Gordon
Bradley-Brashear

The defense pairings are the same from last night.

UPDATE: A team spokesman says Ovechkin and Nylander are resting.

UPDATE: Chris Clark said he is not sure about tomorrow. He said it did not feel any worse than yesterday, but it also did not feel any better. Bruce Boudreau said he does not expect Brian Pothier back in the next week. He is also contemplating starting Brent Johnson in net tomorrow night.
