Obama, Clinton condemn troop halt

The Democratic presidential candidates condemned President Bush's decision to halt U.S. troop withdrawals from Iraq this summer.

"Now, once again President Bush is asking Americans for time and patience — but the American people are saying he's had enough of both," Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton said in a release. "Our troops have done all that's been asked of them and more. It's time for the president to answer the question being asked of him: In the wake of the failed surge, what is the endgame in Iraq? As president, I will do what this president has failed to do: recognize reality and end the war responsibly."

Clinton rival Sen. Barack Obama expressed similar sentiments about the situation in Iraq, which has seen an upsurge in violence in Iraq and Basra.

"The decision to go to war in Iraq was an enormous strategic blunder, and President Bush is only adding to his disastrous legacy by refusing to show the American people any clear goal or any clear plan to end the war," Obama said in a statement. "When I am president, I will bring our combat brigades home in 16 months, engage in the direct diplomacy in the region that is necessary to stabilize Iraq, restore our military strength, and renew our security and standing in the world."

The choice may not be clear now, but it sure will be in November.

Obama Insidious Affiliations
The only possible reason why anyone would vote for Obama is because he is black.
This is the most insidious form of racial discrimination.
There is no way a white man with the same background and credentials could have even been considered as a senator.

Look at Obamas affiliations:
- Mr. Rezko a major mob figure
- Mr. Auchi a billionaire and major funder for Obamas campaign While working with Saddam Hussein, Auchi made his money through the sell of arms in Iraq and by stealing money from the Oil for Food program (no wonder Obama voted against invading Iraq)
- Mr. Wright a racist who hates America and whites and is reminiscent of Hitler
- Mr. Meeks who hates whites and gays and is one of Obamas major supporters and super-delegate
- Mr. Ayers members of the Weather Underground, a group that killed police and tried to bomb the US Capitol
- Mr. McPeaks Obamas military adviser and national campaign co-chairman who claims that American Jews are the "problem." and Christian Zionists were driving America's policy in Iraq to benefit Israel.
- Michelle Obamas who trumpets Obama as the second coming of the messiah. And also states she has never been proud to be an AMERICAN in her adult life".

The list goes on. Am I missing something here?

Carlie...
Bill clinton gets 14-15 million dollars from a church scam in PA, with an Italian conman...
Hillary's campaign gets almost a million dollars from chinese conman Scho, who is now in jail...
I won't even bring up all the crap from Whitewater, etc, etc...
Am I missing something here?

Guilt by association!!! You know why it wont work?

Because, by same token if we see Obama's other associations:

Associations with Ted Kennedy, Jimmiy Carter, John Kerry, Pat Leahy, Colin Powell, McCain himself (both worked together on ethics bill), Republican Senator Lugar, Dave Mattews, Oprah winfrey, Gordon Brown (British primeminister) and a Galaxy of other people who have positively endorsed Obama and have been associated with Obama closely some way or the other, then by your standard Obama is GOOD.

Guilt by association. Obama is associated with good people too, so Obama is also guilty of being Good.

But to be frank this does not matter. We are not voting for Obama's associates. We are voting for Obama. And who is Obama?

A person who taught constitutional law for 12 years in one of America's top law schools. A person who has 8 years of experience as an elected illinois state senator and 3 years of experience as a US senator. A person who inspires millions of people on his message of hope and change, backed up by substance (Read Obama's blue print for change a 64 page pdf document available on the internet). A person who will bring peace to the world. A person who embodies change itself.

Obama 08

Both Obama and Clinton sound really good all the way up to the point of how withdrawing the troops will bring peace to the world? How will the dyfunctional multilateralist policies of the 1990's (direct diplomacy) stabilize the Democrat tauted civil war between the Sunni's and Shi'ites? There is also the little matter of a contingency plan just in case what they say will happen doesn't. The sound of the words impresses me but the complete lack of any kind of a risk assessment scares me.

Carlie Stearn - just a side note.

People don't support Obama because of race. Actually, some people fear what I suspect: an assassination attempt on his life BECAUSE he's black. No matter what you or anyone else thinks, racism is and will always be a part of America.

No...people support him because he's different. If you notice the past few presidents, they've all looked the same and acted the same. Obama brings a change to the office which is important for many reasons - first and foremost being, the idea that this country does accept diversity. You notice how Bill Clinton got major support when it was revealed he was getting fellatio from an intern and smoking weed - activities not normally attributable to someone his age and a shame it took that to get more support. But it was different from the norm. For some, Hillary brings that stigma without truly deserving it.
