Group: Clinton 'so proud' of Wal-Mart

Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton was an enthusiastic supporter of Wal-Mart while she was first lady of Arkansas, according to new videos unearthed by the Center for Public Integrity, a journalistic watchdog group.

Clinton served on the board of Wal-Mart from November 1986 to May 1992, according to the group, which maintains that she is skittish about her prior affiliation with the retail giant, which angers many progressive activists because of its labor practices.

"I'm so proud of this company, and everything it represents," Clinton states in one of the videos released by the group. "Anytime I travel and I tell people I'm from Arkansas . . . Wal-Mart's on top of the list, and everybody wants me to tell them about Wal-Mart and Sam Walton and Helen Walton and all of the Wal-Mart associates. It makes me feel real good about what we're able to do and what we can show and the sort of leadership we're given."

This is about a company that many years ago was well thought of. Now they have grown into a company that has basically 'gotten to big for it's britches' and abuses labor at will.

Of course one might be for a company when it is utilizing good judgement and then one would change ones' position once the company left the track.

This is not news. This is a simpletons idea of reality. Please come up for air...you might drown.

It is hysterical to me why so many people are negative about WalMart. No one is forced to shop there...its by the choice of their customers that WalMart remains in business. No one is forced to remain employed there...it is by their choice that they agree to the salary and benefits offered by the company.

No one mentions the fact that WalMart has raised the standard of living of millions of Americans by offering once unaffordable goods at prices that attract millions of consumers.

These same WalMart haters would go ape if a "woman's right to choose" was taken away...but not if it were her right to choose WalMart.

Let's just pass a law now to suspend capitalism and replace with the Utopia! Then everyone could be happy.

I worked for WalMart in Mcalester Oklahoma during the eighties. I had a sick husband and working there was a necessity. And I loved the job and the people I worked for and with. I sometimes had unusual hours but as I became a regular associate my hours became regular ones that enabled me to work and care for my husband. I met Sam Walton after he had walked the ticker parade in New York as he was a regular visitor to our store. Our store was located in the county seat and all people from the smaller towns shopped there. Wages weren't that great but it supported us and we have good benefits. My husband was insured along with me and I even bought stock and WalMart contributed too it also. There was at the time a profit sharing plan which all associates shared and the amounts each year was designated by the earnings of the store.
I still shop WalMart here in Murphy,NC and so do lots of others who come from Georgia and Tennessee. Hurray for WalMart and God Bless Sam!!
