Bush quotables: On Manny Ramirez

In bad taste? You decide.

This is President Bush speaking to the Boston Red Sox at the White House this afternoon.

"I love the fact that you've got some of the game's biggest stars. I mean, 'Big Papi,' the guy lights up the screen. He brings a great personality — (applause). I'm sorry his running mate, Manny Ramirez, isn't here. I guess his grandmother died again. (Laughter.) Just kidding. (Laughter.) Tell Manny I didn't mean it."

The guy has always said things that prove his lack of intelligence, but this one takes the cake. What a rotten, cold hearted thing to say. Thank God there are only 11 months to go.

If Manny is so proud to be an American, as stated after he became a citizen, he should have the decency to meet with the nation's leader...regardless of political affiliation. Regardless of whether you agree with Bush or not...he is your elected President, which should garner some respect from EVERY US citizen. Grow up Herb.

dumb, so very dumb

I agree with you, Pat. How about some respect for the leader of our great country? A leader who has had to face incredible disasters and an attack right here in our land.
I am appalled at the hatred and well, yes, ignorance that I see in these posts.
I may not agree with every President we have had, but always respect the tremendouse responsibility they carry and their efforts. I think he has carried it well.

My grandfather snubbed Roosevelt and would have snubbed George too. He wasn't called ungrateful and disrespectful of the office. He was Republican.

Did Manny Ramirez accidently set George up to act passively on his instincts? He knows this guy is not a leader and has a screw loose. Manny misses a reception loaded with bad kharma. Does not the meanspirited dangerously thoughtless slight about his grandmother prove Manny was wise to be distant? Ramirez becomes the more interesting of the two.
