This is on all the wires, but I was standing there when Dana Perino told reporters outside her office, so this is the official White House line on economic stimulus as of now, in response to reports from the Hill that a deal has been reached.
"Our understanding is there is no final deal yet, but they are making progress," Mrs. Perino said.

I pay taxes and just because I make over $75,000 per year, I do not qualify for a tax rebate. Typical Democrats, can never tell the truth, they say they are giving money back to the taxpayers but they are not. Please call it what it truly is --- WELFARE TO THOSE WHO DON'T PAY TAXES.

All of this is just a short term fix. And truth be told, it has been happening over past 3 decades. Reagan and Clinton have just as much blame as the current administration. This is an interesting perspective on this(the midas touch)

MB, I agree, call it what it is, a RELIEF package, not a stimulus package. If you want to stimulate the economy, include those of us making over $175,000 who will not only spend the rebate, but *continue* spending because they feel good about the economy.
