VIDEO: Miss Utah wears combat boots

The Miss America pageant "teaches you to be a leader, just like the military," says Sgt. Jill Stevens, an Army National Guard medic, who will compete as Miss Utah in the pageant next month:

How can the Miss America judges say "no" to a lady with an M-16?

She looks like the type of person you would want to have around in an emergency, which is why she's probably going to be a fine medic. She's smart, she's brave, and she's a person with deep personal convictions, which is why she will probably NOT win the Miss America Pageant. If she did win the pageant, it would send a wonderful, inspiring, message to women all over the world: You are much more than a pretty face to look at and it's incredibly admirable to be the type of person who is willing to put their life on the line for others. We need more winners like her, especially in this selfish, childish, and crude media age we're living in today. I really hope she wins.

This must pose a dilemma for the post James Dean-ers. The James Dean generation was confused and whined about their identity because Dad was wearing an apron. Now we have Moms in combat boots and a flak vest. This is really going to drive them over the edge. Is it sensitivity management training next?
