Spotted at Reagan National this morning: Sen. John Thune (R-SD). The senator slipped into the "premium" flyer line at the security checkpoint, and wasn't asked to prove it like other passengers. But he didn't flaunt his status, and smiled politely as he showed his ID and boarding pass to screeners. Maybe that's because he didn't need to — his carry-on bag was clearly labeled. In fact, it had two tags reading "Senator Thune," in case anyone was wondering.

Most frequent fliers(Gold status or higher) are authorized to use the First Class security lines.
Your status is printed on your boarding pass, so that is all I have to show.
And most airlines give the executives of companies at least Silver status if their company predominantly uses that airline.
CEO's and entertainers are often given Gold status as a Perk.
Lastly, the airlines have a "Y-up" fare which is coded as a "coach" fare, because many companies require travelers to use coach fares, but allows an instant upgrade to First Class, which also qualifies you to use the "Premium" lines.
Airlines do take care of their best and famous customers.
I assume the airline in question is Northwest. If so, then I know them well as I am a Platinum there.
And I don't live in Minnesota.
I just think this was a "cheap shot" and does your cause no good, as you didn't confirm that there wasn't a valid reason to do what he did other than his being, for the time being, a US Senator.

It must be a slow news day when junk like this gets front page billing.

Cheap shot? Every one of those bastards needs to be strip searched and humiliated in public.
then I want him stranded on the tarmac for 3 hours.
then I want him to rethink our support for Israel.
when we give this treatment to each of our senators and congressmen, perhaps, just perhaps, we can take back our country.

Jack - I follow most of the animus, but could you please clarify the relationship between caste-based airport security screening and American policy concerning Israel?
Thanks

I note that many posters fail to show adequate respect for the elite. Expect a big crackdown on posters soon...
