How unhappy are folks with the candidates, Republicans and Democrats, running for the presidency?
Dissatisfied enough, apparently, that comedian Stephen Colbert's phony candidacy (he's vowing to run as both a Republican and as a Democrat in the primaries in his home state of South Carolina) is taking off like a rocket.
The BBC reports that the campaign's online headquarters drew so much attention that, according to a Facebook official, it was "overloading our servers."
The BBC also reports that more than a million supporters have signed up to back the comedian's bid since he announced nine days ago.
The man is talking a good game down in Gamecock country: He told a crowd of supporters at the University of South Carolina Sunday that he wins, he will "crush the state of Georgia."

Wow, watch the press put the word out on this farcical and shameful self-promotion. You the propaganda lackeys won't breath a word about viable presidential contenders like Tancredo, Hunter, Kucinich, Gravel and Paul. Somehow, Colbert's waste of time, energy and resources is more palatable? You all make me sick.

Thanks for pointing out one of the great things about satire in free societies: the self-righteous usually don't get it.

It is amazing how Republicans and Democrats have put out the same drivel for the past 50+ years and we as Americans have fallen for it every time...somehow this election will be different. Not one of the presidental candidates on the trail including Mrs Clinton and Sen. Obama are even close to the word "IMPRESSIVE", if you are falling for these mindless soundbites this early in the campaign year, then you're dumber than the fencepost outside my front door.
I believe that Mr. Colbert is on the right track. Even though he has taken a page from the Robin Williams movie, farcical it may be, in this case I believe that he should be campaigning in other states and not just South Carolina. I also believe that he should be allowed into both televised Republican and Democratic debates as soon as possible.
Honestly, there is nothing wrong with a good laugh even on the campaign trail. The citizens in the other 49 states should start a write-in campaign for Mr. Colbert. He certainly deserves a second look.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe he is in fact running. So keep your comments to yourself, if it came down to it I would vote him in before Hillary Clinton or Mitt Romney at least.

So what else is new? "Laugh-in"s Pat Paulson was doing this decades ago.

D. Dines is sickened by Colbert's fake candidacy? I am sickened by the lies and all the fake ideals from ALL the official candidates. What a sad state of American Politics. But Colbert is actually too smart to run for real; politics would destroy him as well as any other candidate honest enough to say what he/she really means. What a bunch of fake liars!
