In less than a century, America will no longer be a majority-white nation, David Coleman, professor of Demography at Oxford University, explained Tuesday at a Hudson Institute forum.
A decline in U.S. fertility rates, in combination with increased immigration, will change the ethnic makeup of America, Mr. Coleman said.
This transition is affecting many other countries, Mr. Coleman said. Throughout Western Europe, populations are being inundated by new immigrant populations, he said. The native-born British, Scottish and Irish populations are also becoming minorities in the United Kingdom.
In the early 1990s, the United States was the first country to identify an ethnic transformation; however, this transformation has not received much attention. Statistical data presented at the Hudson forum suggested that most non-Hispanic whites will become racially intermixed with other ethnicities by 2100.
"How non-Hispanic whites will respond to becoming the minorities is a very interesting question," said Mr. Coleman. "As far as I can judge from 3,000 miles away, there are very small scale — state and neighborhood level — changes that seem to create uneasy hostilities."
Panelists identified immigration as the only controllable factor affecting the speed at which the ethnic transformation takes place.
American Enterprise Institute scholar Nicholas Eberstadt said "the United States, for all its flaws, has a pretty workable formula."
Mr. Eberstadt said that historically, immigrants in America, over time, are able to assimilate into society and become productive citizens, inferring that the same assimilation process would take place over the next century as immigrants, and their offspring, became the ethnic majority in America.
In an interview with The Washington Times, Mr. Coleman said the key issue in dealing with this demographic transition is, "Is race of national importance, or does this transition not really matter?"

By 2100, race will only be important to politicians. More importantly, by 2100 will the U.S. exist as republic nation state or simply part of global limousine liberalism.

This ethnic transformation is largely the result of an illegal invasion by a third world country, Mexico. It has happened against the will of the vast majority of U.S. citizens. The business elites, represented by the American Enterprise Institute, have sold out their country for profits. The "workable formula" Eberstadt praises is the loss of our sovereignty, culture and language.

Who cares? Most of You myself included will be dead, lets worry about peace, the economy and the condition of the environment for are children and our children's children. That is what is most important. Not what race everyone is but how happy and healthy everyone is. The only people who seem to be threatened by this is the racist, white, right wing agenda.

Not true. Non-Hispanic whites are simply not reproducing at an sustaining rate. They're also miscegunating. If they become the minority, it's their own fault. (This is coming from someone of 100% Anglo-Saxon and Scotch-Irish descent). But who cares? Sovereignty & culture: they're always in a state of flux. As for language: everyone I know still speaks, reads, and writes in English.

This influx and change comes by people stepping on the heads of the African-American and poor white and Hispanic/white Americans who are living in poverty already. It drives down wages to the point where people who are working in some construction jobs for example are making about the same as they did in the '70s. So everyone who was beginning to climb out of poverty when the birth replacement rate stabilized and became negative, was pushed back down with the influx of hispanic illegals--so it is not just white right-wingers. It is left-wingers, environmentalists, African-Americans, Hispanic Americans, native Americans all being hurt by this process. And no, whites should not reproduce "to keep up." We need to lower our birthrate across the boards, reduce or slow immigration and STOP illegal immigration. Some things coming in with Mexican and other immigrant cultures are NOT OK in our country. (animal abuse, status of women, ideas about rape, honor killings, discrimination against women, burkas forced on girls, FGM, drinking and driving, etc etc).

The first step is to stop hiring illegals. When the job magnet is removed, they will start to self-deport. Keep hammering your Senators and Congressmen about this. NumbersUSA is a great place to start. They have a Fax service that has tied up the lines in Washington on every important illegal immigration expansion vote for the past several years.

I guess if there is a possibility of any peoples becoming an influential factor in our already "not so white" country, it would behoove us to consider how we treat them at home as well as in their native country. There are already enough anti-American dictators congregating south of our borders, as well as around the world, who can only fuel their popularity and the support of their countrymen, through our arrogance and lack of compassion. Nobody wants to leave their family, their culture and everything they are familiar with, unless they are stuggling to survive economically. Agreed there are low lives that are everywhere, but many of these hard working, often taken advantage of "human beings", just want to be able to support their families. So lets support and educate our neighbors and quit seeing them through prejudiced eyes. Isn't it more appropriate to question the greed of the low paying employers who take advantage of them?
p.s. I'm as white as they come.

I care and I am trying to do all I can to stop it. I am for ending all immigration. I support Numbers USA and Fairus and send in my faxes and make the phone calls to my Senators and reps.
