Murtha confronted 'in cold blood'

In May 2006, Rep. John P. Murtha, Pennsylvania Democrat, said U.S. Marines "killed innocent civilians in cold blood" in Haditha, Iraq. Since then, military prosecutors have dropped charges against several of the Marines originally accused in the incident.

Now, via Hot Air TV, Jason Mattera of the Young America's Foundation asks Mr. Murtha if he will apologize to the exonerated Marines:

To find out more about the accused troops, visit Defend Our Marines.

I'm glad to see someone holding these politicians accountable.
Why aren't the people recalling these clowns? Every state has a process to recall their elected officials for not upholding the Constitution or the laws.

Mr. Murtha's jumping to conclusion, and regretable miscarictarization of the circumstance is worthy of an apology, but it is the inherant mistrust at work in the mindset involved that must be fundementally addressed, as of yesterday..

Murtha made the statement for political advantage, the only way he will issue and apology is for political advantage. That has been the agenda for the Democrat Party for the last seven years with regard to any legislation, the party knows, because the people don't know what is good for the nation, just read up on Reid after the immigration fiasco. It is also interesting the Murtha reverted to asking the reporter if he had ever served. So for any you people, make sure you have served in the military before you talk to Congressman Murtha, otherwise you have no right to question him.

Murtha is a disgrace to congress (if such a thing is possible) and to this nation. The premium pork barrel advocate of all time (Wash TImes), only performs for political advantage. He has no ethic! Would we expect less from a "honorable member" of the dysfunctional body called "the US Congress"?

Before we go after Murtha, let's remember that choosing not to prosecute is not an exoneration. If you look at the FACTS (I know, inconvenient in the present day) Charges were dropped against one Marine in exchange for his testimony -- a plea deal. Charges against two others remain. Three have been charged with failing to investigate in a timely manner.

The deaths are presented as "collateral damage" which does not stand up to actual footage of the scene, where people were killed not by straight shots from the location of the Marines. The truth will not be known unless the facts are released. Failure to do so compels our enemies to imply a cover up. If there was any doubt, why isn't the evidence released, and ALL of the suspects released, and the one Marine who plea bargained have his lack of prosecution reversed.

As a Gulf War veteran and a Marine myself -- unlike many of the individuals on this site -- I support Congressman Murtha's efforts to find out the truth from an administration that has repeatedly been shown to be less than truthful or diligent in its investigations when the results would not support their carefully crafted public images.

There is no doubt in my mind that political considerations were involved in these decisions.

Mr. Murtha has every right to make his comments. The government's decision that they believed they lack sufficient evidence to get a murder conviction does not mean a crime has not been committed.

Recent comments:
The government's actions also mean that no crime was actually committed either. While Mr. Murtha has a right to say what he thinks, his comments should be such that he could and would modify them if later they were proved to be untrue. Many of us served honorably in the US military in places just as dangerous as Iraq, as Mr. Murtha did in Vietnam.... America's a free country, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, right or wrong. However, honest people should have the courage to admit their mistakes, especially when they have hurt others, as I believe John Murtha has done in this case.

Mr Charles White, in my country, the United States of America, the choice to not prosecute those Marines means those Marines are not guilty. Now I don't know what country you live in, but obviously it ain't in the USA. Here we're innocent until proven guilty.

As a Gulf War veteran and a career soldier, I find your comments most offensive - read the Constitution when you get the opportunity. The US Constitution.

Mr. Murtha should retire. He is a tire old fool now. He does not care about the veterans. All he cares about is making a fool of himself.

The NCIS only released to the defense about 1 hour of an 8 to 9 hour video of the battle. Much of what was not released to the defense showed the Marines being attacked, and the attackers running into different buildings.

The defense is entitled to any evidence that is exonerating in any way, and NCIS did not release it. Why?

Murtha is one of only a few that I classify as an EX-Marine. He was quick to jump on the Marines and call them cold blooded killers, but now can't even say he was wrong about any of them.

I think that Murtha should be sued for libel by the exonerated Marines. Politicians have to start learning when to keep their mouths shut, especially during wartime. To use these Marines, who were trying to do their job, as political talking points is beyond shameful. I also didn't think that Murtha, a former Marine himself, would have it in him to trash fellow Marines with absolutely no proof. And he calls himself a patriot?

Our forces are the best - when left to do their jobs - as was seen at the beginning of the Iraq War.
While our soldiers are not supposed to be slaughtering maniacs, they ARE human with powers of discrimination but are subject to error and stress which will precipitate mistakes in war. That is normal and NOT PROSECUTABLE in a legal war situation. In a REAL war normal civil behavior is suspended for the conduct of the savagery of combat. But the baboons in our Administration and State Department want to turn our soldiers into diplomats, nice-guys, school construction whizkids, or any other non-military application, trying to foist off their own responsibilities upon them. This is an ABUSE AND BASTARDAZATION of our formerly-fine fighting men.

Murtha USED TO BE a paid killer (in the PATRIOTIC sense of that term) for the USA. NOW, he serves in the cause of RADICAL ISLAMIC JIHAD and AL QAEDA.
