Bloggers reacted swiftly to the news that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales had resigned.
While liberals at DailyKos were clearly exultant, most conservatives also suggested "Gonzo" had overstayed his welcome.
Michelle Malkin catches Brit Hume of Fox News calling Gonzales "a man almost without fans in Washington . . . he was, simply, a crony."
Mary Katharine Ham of TownHall.com:
"Gonzales leaves without about one political ally to his name, and now we'll hear another cloying Bush speech about how a guy no one really liked and who brought considerable problems upon the administration through his own bone-headedness was actually the greatest guy evuh."Linking today's report by Audrey Hudson, Allahpundit at Hot Air suggests the first task for Gonzo's successor:
Figure out whether you want your department co-sponsoring conventions organized by unindicted co-conspirators in terror funding trials."Don Surber indulges no unrealistic expectations:
This is a golden opportunity for Democrats to divorce themselves from the fringe left.Capitol Hill correspondent S.A. Miller confirms that the "bloodlust" is unquenched, and Christina Bellantoni is following the reaction from Democrats, including John Edwards: "Better late than never."
Following the departure of Karl Rove, this clears the deck for the Democratic Congress to drop its incessant investigations of the Bush administration — and legislate instead of investigate.
Not that they will. There is a bloodlust in the hearts of Democrats to punish George Bush and his staff. This goes beyond anger and is a way of intimidating people from joining a Republican administration.

Gonzalez is a traitor to America. He needs to be arrested for war crimes, crimes against humanity, treason and a traitor to the Consitution. His resigning should not take away the accountablity of for his crime.

You cannot enforce the law if you are breaking it. Mr. Gonzales should have been long gone.

Gonzalez was simply a sycophant who could not control his arrogant disregard for public opinion. This is really the governance issue of our time.

I guess in the eyes of the fringe left, everyones a criminal who doesn't perform according to their way of reasoning. It would seem that if you are a member of the fringe and commit a crime, thats acceptable.

It seems with advent of spin (the definition of is), the internet and opinion move to the front page of news, our language has been devalued to a point of illiteracy. "Traitor" used to bring about a totally different connotation. Now they used it to silence skeptics of global warming and the Attorney General of the United States without justification or substance. Sometimes it seems as if we have regressed to 1950's hypebole on this time instead of communists its anyone who contests consensus.

Gonzalez was a member of La Raza who aided and abetted the invasion of this country by illegal aliens by not inforceing the immigration laws.
