Worth noting

Two last-minute fundraising appeals hit our inbox this weekend and caught this Fishwrapper's eye.

"John McCain is the only candidate who can defeat Hillary Clinton," an adviser to McCain (R-AZ) said in the presidential candidate's "final push" before Saturday's midnight deadline for the FEC's second-quarter fundraising report.

"Please also pass this message along to your friends and family to remind them of the stakes in this election."

"Send Dick Home," reads the subject line of an e-mail from Democratic 2008 hopeful Joe Biden (Del.). That e-mail features a photo of Vice President Cheney and a short note: "Looking for another reason to support Joe Biden for President? We promise that during a Biden Administration, Dick Cheney will not be a member of the EXECUTIVE OR LEGISLATIVE branch of government."

Also of note, Washingtonian magazine's latest issue features a poll of readers, who voted they wish Al Gore would run for president (closely followed by Oprah and Colin Powell), and named Hillary Clinton the politician they hope won't run for president.
