Mitt Romney's message

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney aired a new TV ad today in Iowa and New Hampshire touting his record of turning around the 2002 Winter Olympic Games as president of the organizing committee and turning around Massachusetts as governor -- feats he promises to repeat as commander in chief.

The ad, which can be viewed here, follows this script:

Mr. Romney:

"We have an opportunity to really make a change in this country.

"Government is simply too big. State government's too big. The federal government's too big. It's spending too much.

"I'm going to cut spending. I'm going to cut taxes.

"Lower marginal tax rates for all Americans. Get taxes down. Make them simpler, and flatter, and lower.

"I've brought change to every institution I've touched. I'm going to work like crazy to go to Washington and bring change there.

"I'm Mitt Romney and I approved this message."

I'll have to assume that Mr. Romney's words and promises are as empty as all the others, democrats and republicans. I also see, on his web site, that he wants to "reform the current immigration laws" in order to secure the border; sounds like the same lame mentality of President Bush's. It either takes a fool or a crook to invest time and money into new tools unless the ones already in place have proven not to be adequate, and we all know that our dear "leaders" haven't tried enforcing existing laws; fools or crooks?

On a different note, there are too few good Democrats and too few good Republicans to justify supporting either party. We are in serious need of decent leadership; this calls for a third party. Liberals, conservatives, and whomever else need to band together and focus on getting folks in office that will respect and enforce our laws. We really need to put our other issues aside until we have elected officials upholding our laws and keeping us safe. Let's do that first and then go back to arguing over abortion, welfare, taxes, big government, etc. at a later time.
