Terminal A at Reagan National Airport has its drawbacks, among them a security line and gate that seem to be circa 1980 and built to handle hundreds, not thousands, of travelers.
But its vendors offer a different take on the political-wear you can buy at the other, larger terminals.
One stand sells cherry blossom souveniers but has some added only-in-Washington gear. Among the Bush "out-of-office" countdown clocks were two t-shirts that caught this Fishwrapper's eye on a recent trip.
"Obama for president, making history!" and "Clinton for president, making history!"
The shirts don't specify how exactly the Democrats are making history, but since Clinton's shirt is pink and Obama's is black we can presume the shirtmakers are referring to their gender and race, in that order. But the stand offered no t-shirt for New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardon, the first Hispanic to seek the White House, nor did it sell garb bearing the face of any other political candidate.
Now I haven't flown out of the other terminals lately, but last time I checked, a major store sold fully bipartisan gear on the way into the security gate.
