Cindy McCain today was forced to sell off $2 million in mutual funds whose holdings include companies that do business in Sudan, the Associated Press reported.
She had to scramble to make the sale after the AP brought the holdings to the McCain campaign's attention while looking into Sen. John McCain's call for international sanctions against the nation, which the U.S. government accuses of genocide.
The AP discovered the mutual funds by looking at Mr. McCain's financial disclosures, which he files for his Senate job.
The discovery, and the fact that Mrs. McCain had act in response to press inquiries, makes it more difficult for Mrs. McCain to continue to reject calls to release her tax returns. (link here)
"The fact the McCain family was holding Sudan-related investments even as John McCain was out on the campaign trail calling for sanctions is a reminder of why the American people expect and deserve full disclosure from their elected officials," said Democratic National Committee spokesman Damien LaVera. "Unless John McCain's idea of being a different kind of Republican means disrespecting the voters by denying them the right to examine the links between his political career and financial interests, he should immediately release Cindy McCain's tax returns."

Lemme get this straight.. Cindy doesn't need to release her tax returns, John McCain doesn't need to release all of his medical records, answer a straight question as to whether he called his wife horrible names, why he consistently votes against benefits for veterans or why his father in law immediately opened up a billion dollar beer industry as soon as John shut down all further inquiry into the MIA/POW left in Nam and why he escaped all charges of collaboration with the enemy when other POW who provided less were prosecuted? Got it. I suppose Cindy's past record of being busted for drug abuse and theft is off limits as well.

John McCain votes to sanction Sudan which could potentially damage his wifes holdings in Sudan. She sells only after the AP finds out she has holdings in Sudan and after his call for sanctions, not before. She does it to avoid conflict of interest. Did she sell at a profit or loss? They file separate returns and John McCain is supposed to force her to reveal her tax returns. Is the DNC accusing Cindy McCain of being corrupt or digging for political ammunition?

Cindy McCain is as dishonest as her husband.
She's a druggie, and McCain has totally humiliated her with extreme abusive language in front of several reporters. McCain always votes against benfits for Veterans, but he has his wife's money to finance his own senatorial career and his presedential campaign whih he will lose handily. Cindy sure scurried to get rid of her Sudan holdings after his call for sanctions. I wonder if she did it from her private jet plane of which he's always on.
