Romney, McCain hot; everyone else, not so much

One way to tell who's running a broad-based campaign is to look at total votes scored across all of the states that have voted in primaries and caucuses so far. And by that measure, Mitt Romney is in the lead, with John McCain close by and the rest of the field trailing substantially.

With five states (Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, Nevada and South Carolina; Wyoming didn't report a popular vote figure) having voted, here's the totals as taken from www.thegreenpapers.com, my top Web site for information on the primaries.

Mitt Romney529,511
John McCain 507,933
Mike Huckabee336,954
Fred Thompson121,259
Ron Paul106,171
Rudy Giuliani60,072

Notice that Giuliani, at one point the clear front-runner in the field, has less than half the votes of Paul, and Paul is running close to Thompson — though Paul has put an effort in more states than Thompson, who focused closely on Iowa and South Carolina.

On the top side, McCain's showing comes despite not having competed in Nevada and having all but ignored Iowa — two states where Romney made substantial efforts.

My top source for information regarding the primaries comes from my neighbors, my friends, and my family. No one I know, know one I've ever met, can stand Mitt Romney or John McCain. The two of them would rip a whole in our pride, our integrity, and our honesty as big as the wholes they have worn in their own. These guys are the national media's prize puppet boys and the sheeple of the us get their information primarily from the big five media sources. Feed people poo, they learn to like it. It must be an aquired taste. I beg people, research the candidates, listen to their speeches, understand your role in the world as a concious being that decides now, the fate of the world. The Joseph smith folks would have their way when their prophecy is fullfilled and a Joseph Smith is again able to destroy the "bad ones." You know, you say religion isn't important but if your group was known for slaughtering settlers as they travelled to California, making up a story of golden plates and a supreme race of people tha=en you should think about it. Plus, Mcain's "Bomb -bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran" - play on the song Barbra ann in a recent speech sent shivers through my spine!!!! We want to bomb Iran? You WANT to become a second time offensive support system for nuclear strike? This is real, this isn't clear and cut, and if you do as you have always done, you will get what you have always got. Follow your heart, not your leaders - they have been corrupt for some time now and have recruited the national media.

Luckily, there is a candidate pandering to religious bigots in this race. Mr. Foster, meet your candidate in Mike Huckabee.

The rest of us will look for candidates with business acumen to face the economic situation of the United States and the foreign policy experience to deal with overseas threats. The future of America is more important than petty, mis-informed theological ravings.
