Hunter for Huckabee

Duncan Hunter, who dropped out of the presidential race over the weekend, today endorsed Mike Huckabee. Here's his statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America's industrial base.

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

It's unclear how many folks this swings to Huckabee. Hunter never had a big following, drawing only about 5,000 votes across the five primaries and caucuses that reported vote totals. But he did win one delegate to this summer's national convention, from Wyoming.

Still, the endorsement is sure to anger some Hunter supporters who have questioned whether Huckabee is serious about border and immigration enforcement.

It is really sort of an odd turnabout. Duncan Hunter is actually more presidential than the Huckster but he just didn't have the witty lines to get the media's attention. I think Hunter's support is meaningless as far as Huckaboo's campaign is concerned since Hunter had little following.

However, I am sure Huckleberry is glad to get what little support he can get wherever he can get it. His campaign will soon be but a delightful note in the history of this presidential election as well.

I imagine that tonight's debate in FL will be hard on two candidates in particular, "McCan't cut taxes" and the Incredible Huckster. I expect now that "McCamnesty" is going to find that his history as the Republican spoiler, who so often sided with the liberal likes of Teddy Kennedy to keep Americans paying higher taxes and giving away free citizenship, has not been forgotten or washed away. Being a War Vet, is honorable but it doesn't get you conservative votes when everything else you have ever done is liberal.

As for Huckaburger, I expect his liberal long-underwear will also get hung out to dry on the conservative clothesline. The Huckabeen-tax'n Arkansas truth will be told and his liberal long-handles were already catching airtime in the media earlier today when his donations to Democratic campaigns is Arkansas left his protestant butt a little exposed.

Huckabeenpreech'n the gospel for the GOP by signing pledges not to raise taxes and to stop illegal alien immigration but "Read My Lips", some promises get broken, just ask Jimmy Swaggart and any of a long list of Southern Baptist preachers who have strayed from their flock. Heck, even brother deacon Jimmy Carter confessed in a Playboy magazine of having been adulterous in his heart, many times.

Yep, politicians make and brake promises almost as often as Baptist preachers. I don't suspect that makes a Huckapromise worth much more than the paper he signed it on. After all, if he really was going to do stop illegal immigration and really going to cut taxes, wouldn't an honest man of the cloth just be able to stand on his record of having cut taxes and fought illegal immigration? Yeah sure, if he had that reputation but he doesn't.

After the shellacking he takes tonight in the debate and his loss in the FL primary, Huckamania will be over. Maybe I am wrong but between Mitt Romney running strong with loads of dough on one side and a street fighting hungry New York lawyer named Rudy who's looking to grab some votes in a hurry on the other side and with an old battle ax in McCennedy also trying to take the hill, the Huckleberry may just get hounded.

GOD Bless you Congressman Hunter.

You were my first choice for President. For some reason most so called conservatives have their head somewhere (in the sand or worse).

Mike Huckabee is my second choice and hope for the candidate.

Its a sad day when a man with way different views from Huckberry Hound would back him. Duncan was the only man fit for the job of POTUSA.
