Bah Humbug to Huckabee

Mike Huckabee's "Merry Christmas" ad isn't going over well with all Republicans, and it has nothing to do with mixing politics and religion.

"If Mike Huckabee would waste his contributors' hardeearned dollars just to wish everyone a Merry Christmas while our country has to tackle important issues, just imagine how he would waste the money earned by taxpayers if he ever got his hands on it," said one disgusted Republican.

I gave money to the Huckabee campaign, and I don't feel like they wasted my money.

I thought this was a great ad. Like a rejuvenating breath of fresh air, it gives a wonderful glimpse of how Mike Huckabee is becoming the next Great Communicator.

If the ad isn't going well...fine...but what is the basis of the comment? One disgusted Republican's statement represents the entire party? Give me a poll...something...anything.

Glad to hear there's finally a Republican in Washington who is disgusted by wasteful spending. When he's done complaining about the thousands of dollars Mike Huckabee spent on this commercial, maybe he can do something about the hundreds of billions of dollars in deficit spending that is the legacy of the Bush administration.

Which "Republicans" are you talking about? The RINO variety?

Whether or not anyone celebates Christmas is their right. But we all have a right to say "Merry Christmas" and to explain that the meaning of the holiday is to celebrate the birth of Chris. We also respect the fact that others do not share those beliefs. Huckabee did nothing to disrespect anyone and simply said "Merry Christmas" and refered to the birth of Christ, which everyone knows is what the holiday was originally meant to commemorate.

Wasting resources? No, the person who is wasting resources is Mitt Romney, who has spent tens of millions of dollars just to see his lead in Iowa evaporate overnight. Senator McCain nearly saw his campaign go under because he spent too much money - almost all he had. If anything, Huckabee is showing the most fiscal conservatism of any candidate by getting tons of publicity and publc favor for almost no expenditure of funds.

So, which Republicans are you basing your comments on?

As of now, this ad has been viewed over half-a-million times on YouTube, making it the current "most watched" video. Though it was originally intended to air in only 3 states, it has turned so many heads that it is getting lots of free air time on news shows that air across the country. And beyond the media and the Beltway, really, how many people are turned off by someone wishing them "Merry Christmas"? (Answer: Very few.) Judging from the amount of attention (positive attention at that) and air time this ad has received, I think this was money well spent.

I am personally annoyed by Mike Huckabee's Ad and his general stance in this campaign. Religion should play no part in a candidate's political agenda as it should play no part in their administration or decisions as an elected official. Their responsibility is not a moral one but an ethical one (While, the two concepts commonly intersect, they are different). It is hard to believe that given Mike Huckabee's track record, that he will stand behind his decisions based on his responsibilities in the role of president and not hide behind a personal morality approved by his church or any other. I understand that people want a candidate of similar religious standing but the reason that the candidates are running instead of those people is due to their ability to leave their personal views at the door and do what is beneficial for all Americans, not just those with similar views. In Huckabee's case, I don't see an ability to leave that at the door.

A WASTE of MONEY?! All of the media is talking about it. All the free air time! NO! not a waste of money. If he keeps it up he will be wishing us "Merry Christmas" from the White House in 2009.

I'm a republican and I appreciate Mr. Huckabee's Christmas wishes. As far as the comments about how he is using his campaign money, it seems to me he's getting a pretty big bang for his buck.

Huckabee may or may not become our next president but either way we need more people like him in government.

Merry CHRISTmas to you too Mr. Huckabee.

I just wanted to note that Ron Paul ran a "Merry Christmas" ad before Huckabee did. And I thought it was great.

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, whether you believe is the son of god, god or just a philosopher what harm is done by a video Christmas card. Political Correctness is killing this country. Ron Paul calling him a fascist for a cross image in the ad is ridiculous and disappointing. I thought Mr. Paul was smarter than that, shame on him. Jesus died on a cross, so where is the leap whether intentional or not in a image of a cross in a ad about the celebration of Jesus' birth? The Establishment Republicans are looking for any opportunity to attack Mr. Huckabee this one only show how desperate and pathetic they really are.

Go Huckabee!!! Go Ron Paul!!! The only 2 honest grass roots candidates out there!!!!
