Giuliani's gun control do-over

Rudy Giuliani was the first campaign to react to the Supreme Court's decision today to hear the challenge to D.C.'s handgun ban.

The former New York mayor said the justices should side with the lower court ruling that struck down part of the D.C. law.

"I strongly believe that Judge Silberman's decision deserves to be upheld by the Supreme Court. The Parker decision is an excellent example of a judge looking to find the meaning of the words in the Constitution, not what he would like them to mean," Giuliani said.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out for Giuliani, who as mayor frequently found himself joining with the gun control advocates he now is opposing.

This may help with Giuliani's pitch to skeptical libertarians. Many limited government conservatives have been particularly skeptical of him on the gun rights front. No doubt this will alleviate some of that concern.

He may even attract a few of the Ron Paul voters to his side.

Gooliani will never attract Paul voters. We all can see through his smoke screen. He has been antifreedom with respect to personal protection and firearms and will always be. NYC mayor Bloomingidiot is continuing to pursue the many antigun lawsuits that Gooliani started when he was mayor.Ron Paul in '08!

Rudy's history of severe gun control belies his current posture. Of course currently he is still running for President. Once he takes office ...

I believe Rudy is nothing more than Hillary lite.

Giuliani's position on gun control is the same as it was when he was mayor. He is only sweet talking the pro gun constituents to get the Republican nomination. His comments to the NRA about 9/11 changing his views on the 2A were so thin they were anorexic. Most people know what you are really up to Mr. Giuliani......

Besides never trusting a politician for any reason, never trust a politician who flips flops on major issues of constitutional rights. A wolf in sheep's clothing, so to speak.

Giuliani's has repeatedly pushed for, sued for, and publically advocated for more gun control. What is past is prologue.

Giuliani inspires as much trust amoung conservative voters as a heart-felt promise from Bill Clinton.

Gun control has never been tried in this country. If one can travel from New York to Virginia and buy many guns, clearly gun control is a joke. If the argument that guns don't kill people, people kill people is true, then why do the gun deaths in this country in one week total more than gun deaths in all of Europe in a year? Is the logical explanation based on the gun lovers argument that Americans are by nature violent and murderers? If 2 million guns were air dropped into London, Paris or Tokyo, there would be a couple of killings by day's end. The founding fathers did not envision making it so easy for those punks that killed Sean Taylor to obtain guns but that is exactly what the criminals lobby, the NRA insists on. They insist on keeping it easier to obtain a gun than a drivers license. And I thought phallic worship was a female thing.

Gun control has been tried in states and localities all across this country - in varying degrees - for decades. It has been tried in countries all over the world for hundreds of years. The results are very consistent: Violent crime goes up. More people are raped, beaten and murdered when government restricts law-abiding citizens access to guns.

Totalitarian regimes always control guns. Nazi death camps and the atrocities of the Soviet Union would not have been possible if the victims had been armed in large numbers.

Yesterday, 8 innocent people were killed in a gun-free zone in Omaha. How many lives are we willing to sacrifice at the altar of gun control?

Giuliani doesn't get this and, therefore, he won't be getting my vote.
