Rev. Al Sharpton is pumping up South Carolina as the ultimate referendum now that Sens. Obama and Clinton are even after her win New Hampshire. Here is some of what he said. Notice his insistence in at the bottom that African-Americans not throw away their vote. Exactly which candidate isn't worth voting for?
"Given the significant number of black voters in South Carolina, that primary should be a referendum on 21st century civil rights issues such as racial disparities in the criminal justice system, the rise of hate crimes across this nation, the racial gap in health care and educational opportunities, and the still present income gap between blacks and whites in this country.
As Iowans rightly made the candidates deal with ethanol and oil and the people of New Hampshire made them address the economy and immigration, The African-American community should force real debate on our particular American issues.
Many undecided African-American voters like me can ill afford to throw our vote away at this historic moment, we must seize the time."
That could be the most cowardly endorsement ever given.

Can you press the reverend on who he's referring to? Let's get some straight talk out of him on this.

My guess is that Edwards is the throwaway vote, given his place in the polls. Otherwise, Rev. Al is just hedging his bets between Hillary and Obama.

THE HILLARY NEW YORKERS KNOW AND WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW IT TOO -- "Big Apple" Independents know Hillary. They know fake. They know calculation. They also know it's all one in the same regarding Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. She's as fake as the Clinton's symbolic and unused Harlem office space. Hillary Clinton won't and shouldn't win the presidency. The Hillary Clinton show played off-Broadway, and New York City Independents still want their money back. There's no doubt, for most Independents from New York City to Iowa and beyond, Hillary Clinton is no genuine friend of actual democracy, full inclusion, and organized Independents. Mrs. Clinton's record of blocking and bashing Independent voters and activists throughout NYC is a little-known ugly history to many. Though she spins her out-of-town campaign and rhetoric across America to have the appearance of being a friend of Black voters, many Black New Yorkers know the real deal better than most. They see through the contrived "Black" speaking cadence 'Sista' Clinton uses when addressing predominantly African American audiences. They are not amused. Ask members of the Independence Party of New York (IPNY), the Committee for a Unified Independent Party (CUIP), and especially 1992 presidential candidate and Independent activist Dr. Lenora Fulani. In 2005, Clinton engineered a bogus bigot-bating campaign to have Fulani eliminated as an executive member of the IPNY State Executive Committee. Though never substantially confirmed or affirmed by anyone, especially Dr. Fulani's Jewish friends and supporters, Senator Clinton hyped the claim that the New York Independent activist was an anti-Semite to the Empire State's Jewish voters. Dr. Fulani's longtime political mentor and CUIP's veteran political strategist Fred Newman, also Jewish, knew better. As one of New York's leading national representatives, including her network of state and national political resources, Senator Clinton forced IPNY chairman Frank MacKay and vice chairman Thomas Connolly to dump Fulani from her executive post before the state IPNY organization was allowed to endorse Clintons senatorial campaign. The demonization and attempted termination of Fulani, including the effort to disband the Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens county Independent organizations, effectively was designed to disenfranchise the thousands of very active and predominantly Black New York City Independents Fulani represents. Keep in mind that this large block of avid and aware voters saw through Mrs. Clinton from day one, and could prevent her win as the U.S. Senator for New York. Lenora Fulani and several complainants filed a Voting Rights Act violation case with the New York State Supreme Court and the U.S. Justice Department. Senator Hillary Clinton and former New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, now governor (recently famous for a statewide rejection of his efforts to grant state driver's licenses for illegal aliens to potentially raise the Democratic voter percentages), were also named in the complaint. New York State's Supreme Court decided in Fulani's favor, and upheld Black New York Independents' right to fair and equal representation as voters --- as in African American voters being denied voting rights by a Democratic politician. New York State Supreme Court Judge Emily Jane Goodman stated that "While the Court is not going to speculate on the motive for bringing this Petition now...it appears to be more political than philosophical." Black Independents now have more empowered representation within the state, including Dr. Fulani's potential run for New York City mayor in 2009. History and facts, no matter how hidden for present day campaign purposes, have a way of sustaining themselves among genuinely informed voters. New York's Black voters remember all too well. The likeable First Lady Clinton of the 1990s is definitely not an electable candidate for 2008, in Iowa or anywhere in America. Another fact, Independents are the largest non-Democratic and non-Republican voting group in "The Hawkeye State." This among other reasons will be the basis of presidential candidate Clinton's much deserved electoral demise among Iowa's, New York's, the District of Columbia's, and America's decisive Independents this November.

Man up Al! Isn't this what you run around the country proclaiming! Fairness and equality for the Black man? If you don't stand with us as a people now, we won't stand with you later! If you endorse Hillary, we as a race of people will know you talk out of both sides of your mouth! How can you make any argument to Whites when you have an opportunity to "put up or shut up" and failed to do so! If you endorse Hillary it will not go well with your Black constituents!

I wonder how sisterly and supporting was Hill towards Lani Guinier, after Bill tossed Guinier aside when claiming he didn't know anything about Guinier's views, after selecting her for a possible cabinet position. Support Clintonvelli(s) at your own peril.

WOW- all I have to say!
Here is an excerpt: "Last Saturday's South Carolina Democratic Primary produced the widely expected result of a Barack Obama victory. From the beginning of the week, it was the ethnic composition of the State in question which was amply discussed by both the Media and its multiple pundits. It was here and through other sources that we discovered that 55% percent of Democratic voters in South Carolina were African American. An interesting number when you consider the "coincidence" that Obama actually won the election by exactly the same margin: 55%. Of course, many in Clinton's campaign have used this demographic reality to spin their defeat, vociferating that they had always expected to loose from the start. It should be noted that it has been this exact attitude which they have ridiculed Obama's camp for, insinuating that they had proved to be "sore losers" by not admitting their own failures in stating their case to the American People. As we all know, in modern politics, no campaign is free of idiotic childishness, sadly resurfacing the reality that our current political existence is dominated by whining imbeciles of the lowest ilk. Nevertheless, the Clinton Campaign's affirmation (victory based on a unified ethnic constituency) is valid, especially when we consider the data.
The Primary's exit polling, presented by all major networks, were utilized by analysts to determine how was Obama's, Edwards', and Clinton's support spread throughout different social markers. Their results indicated that 80% of the Black vote, and only 20% of the White vote, went towards Barack Obama. Regarding most White voters in the State, you could easily identify their split between John Edwards and Hillary Clinton. The significance of this racial division is crucial in understanding the fate of Barack Obama's campaign, and the Democratic Party, if they chose to face the General Election with him at the helm.
