Top 20 rundown

Won't be in town tomorrow, and with Notre Dame wrapping up its victory over Lehigh in the last hour, my top 20 ballot is locked in for the week.

Yes, that's Hopkins at No. 5. And yes, that really is about where they belong at this point. The talent is there, and the goalie play (more on that at some point in the next day or two) is improved.

Army's 10-6 loss to Duke on Long Island is about as good a setback as there is out there. Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and Hopkins have all taken turns getting mauled by the Blue Devils. This result bodes well for the Black Knights.

I still can't seem to really figure out Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish has played just about nobody that's bad, but their best victories are over Loyola and Drexel. Laxpower's computer ranking had the Irish at No. 3 entering the day. They may well be a top-10 team --- I'm not about to discount that possibility --- but it's hard to tell based on beating a whole bunch of teams ranked between 15 and 35 nationally.

Here's my ballot for Inside Lacrosse's poll:

1. Duke (13-1)
2. Syracuse (11-1)
3. Virginia (11-2)
4. Georgetown (8-3)
5. Johns Hopkins (5-5)
6. Maryland (8-4)
7. UMBC (9-3)
8. Ohio State (9-3)
9. Cornell (9-3)
10. Army (9-4)
11. North Carolina (8-4)
12. Navy (9-4)
13. Notre Dame (9-2)
14. Loyola (7-4)
15. Princeton (7-4)
16. Brown (10-2)
17. Drexel (11-3)
18. Delaware (9-5)
19. Denver (9-5)
20. Colgate (9-4)
