Here's the Eric Hayes update du jour, and it isn't as promising as what Gary Williams has tried to convey in the past week.

"He's working in practice to get back," Williams said. "With ankles, you never know. Day-to-day sometimes. They change. We hope he's back this week, but there's no guarantee, so that's where we are."

That doesn't sound like Hayes, who suffered a left ankle sprain on Jan. 6, is a good bet to play tomorrow against Wake Forest. Maryland's next game after tomorrow is Saturday at top-ranked North Carolina.
