We're in the eighth inning of what looks like it will be the Nationals' sixth loss in a row. They're down 10-4 after a rough outing from Jason Bergmann (five innings, nine hits, seven runs) and (yet another) big performance from the Marlins' Dan Uggla (he now has 28 RBI in 37 games against Washington after two more tonight).
The Marlins got aggressive against Bergmann after the third inning. Eight of the last 15 batters Bergmann faced swung at his first pitch, many of which were fastballs. Had his off-speed pitches been more effective, he might have been able to get a few hitters chasing early in the count. After two poor starts in a row, it will be interesting to see how he fares next week against the Mets.
