Some interesting tidbits about Ryan Zimmerman's game-winning homer the other night...
According to baseball historian and home run expert David Vincent, Zimmerman is the sixth-quickest player to hit four game-ending homers (based on days spent in the big leagues). The list has some interesting names on it...
Cory Snyder 1 year, 340 days
Will Clark 2 years, 5 days
Don Lock 2 years, 12 days
Eddie Murray 2 years, 77 days
Frank Robinson 2 years, 97 days
Ryan Zimmerman 2 years, 210 days
Tommy Davis 2 years, 269 days
And, this nugget courtesy the Elias Sports Bureau:
Ryan Zimmerman christened Nationals Park with a game-winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Nats a 3-2 victory over the Braves on opening night. It was the third walk-off home run in major-league history to be hit in the first MLB game played at a stadium. The first two were hit by Billy Bruton at Milwaukee County Stadium in 1953 and Dante Bichette at Coors Field in 1995.
And with that, here's tonight's lineup against the Phillies:
SS Guzman
CF Milledge
3B Zimmerman
1B Johnson
RF Kearns
C Lo Duca
2B Belliard
LF Harris
P Redding
