Odalis Perez's big-league camp debut is now over, with somewhat mixed results.
Perez, who had previously made two successful starts in minor-league camp, was outstanding for his first three innings, allowing only three singles (two that didn't leave the infield) and keeping the ball in the strike zone.
Then things started turning south. Perez issued a two-out walk to Russell Martin in the fourth, then allowed a two-run homer to Andre Ethier that was aided by a strong wind blowing out to left. Perez came back out for the fifth and walked Jason Repko to lead the inning off. After surrendering another single and then a sacrifice bunt, he was pulled in favor of reliever Eude Brito.
The final line: 4 1/3 ip, 5 h, 4 r, 4 er, 2 bb, 1 k, 1 hr. Doesn't look that great, but the numbers are probably misleading. Like I said, Perez threw the ball very well for three innings, then faded after that.
So we're in the top of the sixth now, Dodgers leading 4-0.
