One leftover little interesting note from the Bret Boone press conference Monday.
When Boone left the New York Mets camp in March of 2006 to quit the game, one of the players who called him to try to convince him otherwise was his friend, Seattle Mariners first baseman Richie Sexson.
"I was on the phone with him for three hours," Sexson told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "I tried to talk him out of it."
On Monday, while Boone was meeting with reporters to announce his comeback attempt with a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals, he got a call on his cell phone. He didn't answer it, but noted who it was from -- Richie Sexson.
