VIDEO: Clinton raises Bobby Kennedy assassination when talking about long Dem race

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton often tells reporters and voters her husband didn't wrap up the Democratic nomination in 1992 until June.

But today she took that a step farther, invoking assassinated Bobby Kennedy when making the same point.

The New York Post has the write-up from her talk to the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader.

Hillary Clinton today brought up the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy while defending her decision to stay in the race against Barack Obama.
"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out.

During the interview with the paper's editorial board, she also said, "People have been trying to push me out of this ever since Iowa."

I just spoke to a frazzled-sounding editor from the Argus-Leader newsroom, and they will be posting higher quality video shortly. In the meantime, here's the clip:

My prediction: Some wackos will claim Hillary is implying that Obama could get assassinated.

Her point: It isn't unusual for people to still be campaigning for President in June. Bobby Kennedy is an extremely memorable example. Note that she is comparing HERSELF, not Obama, to RFK.

Snarky response: I knew Bobby Kennedy. Bobby Kennedy was a friend of mine. You, senator, are no Bobby Kennedy.

Logical response: Yeah, but weren't the primaries held much later in those days?

I am interested in hearing responses from the Kennedy family. I have not trusted Hillary or Bill since the early 1990s.
