Clinton, Obama both blast "pundits"

No surprises tonight — Sen. Hillary Clinton won Kentucky, Sen. Barack Obama won Oregon.

Just three contests to go. Seriously. The long, long, long primary season will be over two weeks from tonight.

Of note in yesterday night's Democrats' victory speeches — both decried the role of pundits.

"Why do millions keep turning out to vote in the face of naysayers and skeptics? Because you know that our political process is more than candidates running, or the pundits chattering, or the ads blaring," Clinton said. "It is about the path we choose as a nation and whether or not we will solve our toughest problems."

and:

"The skeptics predicted we wouldn't get very far," Obama said of his quest for the presidency. "The cynics dismissed us as a lot of hype and a little too much hope. And by the fall, the pundits in Washington had all but counted us out."

"But the people of Iowa had a different idea," Obama continued. "From the very beginning, you knew that this journey wasn't about me or any of the other candidates in this race. It was about whether this country, at this defining moment, will continue down the same road that has failed us for so long, or whether we will seize this opportunity to take a different path — to forge a different future for this country we love."

Both speeches contained the path phrase. What path are they talking about? What is the path for the economy? The energy? Immigration? National Defense (not just Iraq)? How much is it gonna cost? Is the decision process going to be like Congress chose for immigration, or biofuels? I hope not. Maybe we sell some more carbon credits? I know McCain is right up there with them on that subject.
