As Clinton wins Kentucky, Obama announces the money

Shortly after the AP and the networks called a big Kentucky victory for Sen. Hillary Clinton, Team Obama sends over his April fundraising haul. And it's still impressive.

New donors in April: 200,000
94% of contributions were under $200
93% of contributions were $100 or less
77% of contributions were $50 or less
52% of contributions were $25 or less

Number of donors to the Obama campaign overall at the end of April: 1.475 million
Number of contributions given: $2,929,000 million
Average donation: $91

Amount raised in April: $31.3 million (plus an additional $600,000 for the general election)

Cash on Hand: $37.3 million (plus an additional $9.2 million for the general election)

Clinton hasn't released her totals yet, but sent supporters this text message:

Tonight we won Kentucky and once again, we showed American what we're made of. Thank you so much. Keep the momentum going at www.hillaryclinton.com — Hillary

She also told fans in Louisville last night: "Your help will keep us going" and directed them to her Web site.

UPDATE, 8:50 P.M.: Clinton's Howard Wolfson just said on CNN she raised $22 million in April.

Notice how Hillary pushes her website for donations when she has the podium. How tacky. Barack hasn't done this. He has integrity.

Larry - Tacky is a good word for it. I'm a Ron Paul supporter who can't help but be impressed with the class of Obama versus Hillary.

Obama isn't what I want in a leader, but if Ron Paul isn't going to run as an indy and give me what I want leaving me a choice between business as usual and business as usual, I'd prefer to have business as usual with class. When Ron is officially out, my money will go to Obama.

Why is it cool when nearly 100% of blacks canvas and parade to vote for Obama, but blatantly racist when 60% of the whites vote for the first woman contending for the Presidency? Why is it OK to attack and mercilessly mock Bill and Chelsea campaigning for Hillary, but so sinister to question Michelle's loyalties (the potential first lady) in light of her daring admission that "after all these years (listening to Rev. Wright) she is finally proud to be an American on the eve of Democratic nomination! Is everyone supposed to applaud that inspiring statement - like the moronic loud mouths Mathews and Doberman do?
Why is Obama's condescending, cocky, elitist, intellectual arogance, cloaked in hollow rhetoric, viewed as a virtue by the media, but Hillarys mannerisms and hyperbole on Bosnian snipers sufficient to totally smear her character and qualifications for a political position that often rewards such attributes (Regan, Bushes)?
Why is it that the Hillary backers showing up on cable shows so defensive and cautious in attacking Barack while the latter's fervent supporters cannot conceal their glee over Obama or their misogynistic or racist view on Hillary (yes Black racism is very evident in the media!)
Why are cyberspace and cable TV so viciously and overwhelmingly anti-Hillary while the Teflon Obama is being fawned and coddled as a Messiah? Is all this evidence of an underground cult or is it the work egg heads getting paid to skip classes and inundate the blogosphere to demonize Hillary and deify Obama in order to cover their tuition costs?

I am neither white nor black, neither Christian nor Muslim, but a fair minded, neutral, and concerned citizen totally aghast at how the media and the so called 'pundits' are once again shaping this election and crowning a new tool - just as they did eight and four years back with terrible consequences to the countrys image, economy and future well being - not to mention the thousands of innocent lives lost in a premeditated, senseless, war cheer leaded by the same media and the pundits. Now it is the radical lefts turn to unleash its agenda just as the radical neocons did over the past eight years. Guess a middle ground is too boring for the ratings driven media!

That dollar figure seems to be out of kilter. i read it as 2 trillion plus dollars. Should that dollar sign really be there? or are there too many zeros.
