I have a Web story up about the final hours the two campaigns have left to get Democrats registered to vote in Pennsylvania.
The presidential campaigns today are scrambling to register Pennsylvania Democrats over the next few hours before tonight's deadline, and worked through the holiday weekend to add thousands of new voters to the state's total. The campaigns have until midnight to register new Democrats — or to convince Republicans and Independents to become Democrats — and volunteers for each were out in full force to drive up the numbers.
"Even if you're going out to bars, grab a few extra clipboards," and register more voters, Sasha, a coordinator for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton told volunteers in Philadelphia Saturday night. "Hit the pavement for another hour and make sure we get every last Hillary Clinton supporter."
Sen. Barack Obama's supporters had their own stack of clipboards and registration forms Saturday, cruising Philadelphia's South Street as residents shopped and ate lunch in the bustling neighborhood.
Read the rest here.
The popular vote issue is something Boston Globe's Sasha Issenberg outlined with fun Philly details in this weekend piece.
Bubbling this afternoon as the campaigns trade the usual insults is Mrs. Clinton's trip to Bosnia, and an airport landing which the former first lady said was greeted with "sniper fire."
Campaign officials said today Mrs. Clinton "misspoke" when characterizing the condition of the landing, but Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor catches the sniper line was in Mrs. Clinton's prepared remarks. Here's the Obama release.
CHICAGO, IL — The Clinton campaign claimed today that Senator Clinton "misspoke" when she described a supposedly harrowing landing in Tuzla, Bosnia as First Lady in 1996 — despite the fact that the claim appeared in her prepared remarks. The Tuzla story, now thoroughly debunked, joins a growing list of instances in which Senator Clinton has exaggerated her role in foreign and domestic policymaking.
On the campaign trail, Clinton has frequently touted her role in "helping to pass" the Family and Medical Leave Act, claimed to be "a critic of NAFTA from the very beginning," and says she played a leadership role in the passage of the State Children's Health Insurance Program. All of these claims have been disproved, raising questions about Senator Clinton's willingness to misrepresent her experience for political gain.
"Senator Clinton said that a planned welcoming ceremony was cancelled because they needed to avoid sniper fire, but news footage shows that she was met by a small child who read her a poem. Contrary to the latest spin from the Clinton campaign, when you make a false claim that's in your prepared remarks, it's not misspeaking, it's misleading, and it's part of a troubling pattern of Senator Clinton inflating her foreign policy experience," said Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor.
Clinton's account of the Bosnia landing, repeated most recently in a speech on March 17, earned four Pinocchios from the Washington Post's Fact Checker, and has been discounted by several other accounts, both in the press and by the comedian Sinbad, who accompanied her on the supposedly death-defying trip.
This snarky video examining the Bosnia trip was compiled by blog The Jed Report.
UPDATE, Tuesday, 10:45 a.m.: Team Clinton says Vietor erred in sending out his release, with spokesman Phil Singer saying the speech on her Web site was not her prepared remarks but rather the speech as delivered.

She obviously lied about bosnia. She's repeated made the same claims. Why is it that this is only coming out now? Didn't the media bother to check? Or, is youtube the official source of investigative news?

Earlier a Clinton surrogate said, regarding Hillary's distortion of facts about trip to Bosnia, "Well, everyone's perceptions are different." Huh? It's called lying. Creepily ORWELLIAN...the truth is what we tell you it is. NO MORE, please.

Pretty damning that the traditional media refused to report this until it started percolating on the internet. Not only did Hillary say this in her speech, she elaborated it even more in her Q & A.
Her finally-released schedule disproves her NAFTA fabrication. It also disproves her "I single-handedly saved Ireland" assertion.
What else has she fabricated?

Misspoke = LIE
She says : I say lots of things on the campaign trail, I often misspeak about things...
She is always lying.. I wonder why anyone would vote for this liar...
HA HA HA HA HA

It is an active case AND HAS BEEN IN A COUPLE OF YEARS. I think, before we go any further, she should disclose.

Give Hill a break. She misspoke, it even happens to our most distinguished leaders. Like when the President said he never had sex with that woman.

First of all, experience without responsibility is not experience, it is what is commonly called a boondoggle. Second, using Bosnia as a combat Commander in Chief image is denigrating to our military. For those that live within a combat zone day in and day out in Iraq, their effort is heroic. For those that are within six degrees of connectivity to a combat zone and brag about it for political gain, they will be categorized by the real warriors as 'Winter Soldiers'. She sure didn't show any respect to the military as First Lady (ask Buzz Patterson). She was a church mouse when Kennedy (torturers), Murtha (murderers), and Durbin (Nazi's) spoke. She definitely did not misspeak in her statement of "a willing suspension of disbelief" against General Petraeus. You can't lead these people after you have spent a great deal of time metaphorically 'spitting' on them.

It is amazing at times what the American people will swallow. If you or I were at the center of this controversy we would have "lied" but apparently in the world of lawyer-speak, lawyers and politicians don't "lie", they "misspeak". I dare wonder how many times either Clinton has "misspoken" under oath...

Having experienced sniper fire, believe me it is something you do not forget. She did not misspeak, she LIED. As for being ready to take charge of foreign relations because she has met so many heads of state is a joke. I once met Archie Moore, but that doesn't make me a boxer. Wake up America, Hillary will say anything, tell any lie, suck up to any interest group that she thinks will help her get elected. She has lied ever since she has been in the public limelight, so don't think she will change now.

This is even more ridiculous as her claim that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary (she wasn't), and it reveals her anabashed compulsion to paint herself in a positive light no matter what. I suppose being married to a charming, if pathological "truth-bender" has something to do with her tainted charater, but ol' "Hills" should remember one key difference: Hubby pres Bill gets away with it because he is warm and charismatic. She, on the other hand, has about as much charm and warmth as a pit viper. For someone so smart, she is making some incredibly stupid mistakes lately.
