Nader rails on Clinton family

Two-time presidential candidate Ralph Nader today sent out this brutal assessment of the Clinton dynasty to his e-mail list of supporters. (Nader, a supporter of John Edwards, doesn't mention the former senator in his note.)

EIGHT MORE YEARS

By Ralph Nader

For Bill and Hillary Clinton, the ultimate American dream is eight more years. Yet how do you think they would react to having dozens of partisans at their rallies sporting large signs calling for EIGHT MORE YEARS, EIGHT MORE YEARS?

Don't you have the feeling that they would cringe at such public displays of their fervent ambition which the New York Times described as a "truly two-for-the-price-of-one" presidential race? It might remind voters to remember or examine the real Clinton record in that peaceful decade of missed opportunities and not be swayed by the sugarcoating version that the glib former president emits at many campaign stops.

The 1990's were the first decade without the spectre of the Soviet Union. There was supposed to be a "peace dividend" that would reduce the vast, bloated military budget and redirect public funds to repair or expand our public works or infrastructure.

Inaugurated in January 1993, with a Congress controlled by the Democratic Party, Bill Clinton sent a small job-creating proposal to upgrade public facilities. He also made some motions for campaign finance reform which he promised during his campaign when running against incumbent George H.W. Bush and candidate Ross Perot.

...

That set the stage for how Washington politicians sized up Clinton. He was seen as devoid of modest political courage, a blurrer of differences with the Republican opposition party and anything but the decisive transforming leader he promised to be was he to win the election.
He proceeded, instead, to take credit for developments with which he had very little to do with such as the economic growth propelled by the huge technology dot.com boom.

Bragging about millions of jobs his Administration created, he neglected to note that incomes stagnated for 80% of the workers in the country and ended in 2000, under the level of 1973, adjusted for inflation.

A brainy White House assistant to Mr. Clinton told me in 1997 that the only real achievement his boss could take credit for was passage of legislation allowing 12 weeks family leave, without pay.

There are changes both the Clinton Administration actively championed that further entrenched corporate power over our economy and government during the decade. He pushed through Congress the NAFTA and the World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements that represented the greatest surrender in our history of local, state and national sovereignty to an autocratic, secretive system of transnational governance. This system subordinated workers, consumers and the environment to the supremacy of globalized commerce.

That was just for starters. Between 1996 and 2000, he drove legislation through Congress that concentrated more power in the hands of giant agribusiness, large telecommunications companies and the biggest jackpot - opening the doors to gigantic mergers in the financial industry. The latter so-called "financial modernization law" sowed the permissive seeds for taking vast financial risks with other peoples' money (ie. pensioners and investors) that is now shaking the economy to recession.

The man who pulled off this demolition of regulatory experience from the lessons of the Great Depression was Clinton's Treasury Secretary, Robert Rubin, who went to work for Citigroup - the main pusher of this oligopolistic coup - just before the bill passed and made himself $40 million for a few months of consulting in that same year.

Bill Clinton's presidential resume was full of favors for the rich and powerful. Corporate welfare subsidies, handouts and giveaways flourished, including subsidizing the Big Three Auto companies for a phony research partnership while indicating there would be no new fuel efficiency regulations while he was President.

His regulatory agencies were anesthetized. The veteran watchdog for Public Citizen of the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Sidney Wolfe, said that safety was the worst under Clinton in his twenty nine years of oversight.

The auto safety agency (NHTSA) abandoned its regulatory oath of office and became a consulting firm to the auto industry. Other agencies were similarly asleep — in job safety (OSHA) railroads, household product safety, antitrust, and corporate crime law enforcement.

By reappointing avid Republican Alan Greenspan, chairman of the Federal Reserve, Mr. Clinton assured no attention would be paid to the visible precursors of what is now the sub-prime mortgage crisis. Mr. Greenspan, declined to use his regulatory authority and repeatedly showed that he almost never saw a risky financial instrument he couldn't justify.

...

To justify his invasion of Iraq, Bush regularly referred in 2002-2003 to Clinton's bombing of Iraq and making "regime change" explicit U.S. policy.

But it was Clinton's insistence on UN-backed economic sanctions in contrast to just military embargos, against Iraq, during his term in office. These sanctions on civilians, a task force of leading American physicians estimated, took half a million Iraqi children's lives.

...

Bill Clinton is generally viewed as one smart politician, having been twice elected the President, helped by lackluster Robert Dole, having survived the Lewinsky sex scandal, lying under oath about sex, and impeachment. When is it all about himself, he is cunningly smart.

But during his two-term triangulating Presidency, he wasn't smart enough to avoid losing his Party's control over Congress, or many state legislatures and Governorships.

It has always been all about him, Now he sees another admission ticket to the White House through his wife, Hillary Clinton. EIGHT MORE YEARS without a mobilized, demanding participating citizenry is just that - EIGHT MORE YEARS. It's small wonder that the editors of Fortune Magazine headlined an article last June with the title, "Who Business is Betting On?" Their answer, of course, was Hillary Clinton.

His criticism of Democrats is not solely reserved for the Clintons. He wrote this piece recently mocking Sen. Barack Obama.

Thank you for telling it like it was, especially that the economy then was driven by the dot com revolution, not anything that bill or congress did.

I agree in total with Mr Naders assessment of the time Clinton raveged our country and its citizens. One thing he didnt mention is the largest, in modern history , tax increase he pushed through. I asked my wife the other day isn't it about time for Ralph Nader to rear his head to run a non impact campaign for the presidency. It is amazing every 4 years Ralph stands up raises money for a campaign that lasts for 3 weeks and then retreats to the beach with full coffers until the next election cycle. That should be the headline. Ralph is back, he needs your help to fund his next 4 year vacation. Please do not send this fraud one penny!

If you want to see the real accomplishments of Clintons, take a "Quiz on Clinton" using the following link on youtube.com

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMudXIZYvdM

nader is a commie.....

Is there anyone in the world less deserving of attention? If ol' Ralph had stayed out of politics we'd not have had to deal with the last 7 years of the Bush regime. My advice to Mr. Nader is "Shut up and go away before you screw it up again."

LOS DEMOCRATAS DIVIDIDOS

Excellent synopsis of a truly failed presidency. Until this election, we could remember Bill Clinton as an affable guy with some personal problems. Now it appears he is working hard to diminish his only redeeming quality (friendly bloke that blows a good sax) as he loses his temper and self control in his quest to regain the White House. In short, it was never about doing a good job or even the right thing, it was only about the power. Should Hillary loose her bid for the White House, their power struggle will be over, their usefulness for each other will be over, and they will quickly fade as a sad memory of America's foremost dysfunctional family.

Darth Nader speaks....

That the man who brought us Bush by selling some on the idea that there was no difference between Bush and Gore bears much of the responsibility for everything Bush did to this country.

Bill Clinton was not, in spite of what his adoring press says, do much, if anything to benefit the nation. What, in fact, he did do, was to squander the tremendous beginnings that Presidents Reagan and Bush had laid down as tremendous foundations for that "city on the hill," and in my opinion Clinton eroded their accomplishments intentionally. Clinton is, to his core, a traitor to this nation; a willing, knowing traitor.

It's astonishing to me that Democrats did not call out the Clinton's brazen behavior during their White House years. It was obvious to any Republican paying attention...why couldn't members of their own party have the guts to say something? Maybe because they knew then (as so many are pointing out now), that Bill didn't care what anyone thought as long as he maintained his power. At least, thank God, someone besides Republicans are now being honest and forthright about what they're seeing on the Clinton campaign trail. These two were and always will be power-mongers--to hell with the needs or wants of this country.

Yeah Ralph!

Good ol' Nader.... a shill for the Republicans.

When will he learn no one cares what he has to say?

Just be honest and declare yourself a Republican already....will ya Naddy?

Bill Clinton is the best politician you will ever see.

He signed welfare reform the fourth time through and said "it has problems we will work it out later" now he takes credit for it and the african american community loves him.

He pushed NAFTA through and the Unions love him.

Talk about telling people to go to hell and making them anticipate the trip.

Stupendous!

Ralph Nader and John Edwards should get married. They could live a blissful life in total ignorance of economics and the capitalistic system.

Good God Almighty. Please save us from the Clintons

What? Are we supposed to get hung up on facts when it comes to electing a President? Are you kidding?

Nader rightly criticizes members of both parties for their shortcomings. Yet he continually fails to actively promote the most important reforms necessary for opening up the process to other voices to counter them.

Nader really is a Republican, right? I mean what has this clown done to help the Democratic Party over the last 10 years?

Nader...what a loser.

It is about time to hear true words on the Clintons. Especially by someone that is a liberal. Most people this day in age just think that Bill Clinton was such a great president. When in reallity he had a nothing presidency.

Nader for President!

Nader is on point. It's funny--the '90s are like a black hole of history. The Clintons have been able to re-write the history books so Clinton's legacy are the dot com boom years and a few harmless rolls in the hay in the oval office. No harm done right? This article is just the start--Clinton's foreign policy was far more disastrous than anything Bush has done. But all anyone remembers is NASDAQ at 5000.

Nader is a JOKE now and always will be. A has been that feels the need for attention in the media. We can thank him for Bush and what the "liar and Chief" has done to this country over the last 7 years.

Nader is a barn owl.

So what if the clintons are seeking 8 more years? Why shouldn't they as long as we keep rewarding them by keeping them in office. So what if they are everything immoral, and indecent as many think they are. So what if he is lining his pockets and his library with millions upon millions by wealthy donors seeking God knows what in return. So what if hillary has no experience to back her run for president? So what if bill clinton was impeached? You cannot look to them to change the way they are. You cannot ask them to give up the power they seek. You cannot say shame on the clintons...it's SHAME ON US for rewarding their bad behavior. If I were a clinton, I would grab more too...why not?? How stupid they must think we all are, and, sadly, they are right.

Ralph, first time I've ever agreed with you.
Thanks for a truthful assesment of the real Bill Clinton. With the Clinton's (King Louie and Marie Antoinette) it has and always be about them, for them and POWER. They define Soliphism...only seeing the world with themselves as the center of the universe

Dave Ferguson

OMG! This sounds like what Rush Limbaugh has been saying for years as far as the tone goes not the content. When you stop and think that it's coming from a liberal, it's truely amazing. Of course there is no love lost between the Clinton's and Nader. I know they blame him for taking Florida votes away from Gore in 2000, and costing the Democrats the Whitehouse. Not that they cared about Gore, but it was one less thing for Bill to brag about, not being able to propel his legacy. truth is, it was the Republican base's lingering hate for the Clintons which made Bush a winner again in 2004. It wasn't so much a vote for Bush as it was against the Clintonese, er I mean the Democrats.

This article should be posted on every web site that is dealing with this current election. How do we get this type of reporting out to the general public, great piece of work, thanks Jack

Nader is a genuine jerk. Had it not been for him, Bush would never have been elected. I am fed up with this spoiler. He is truly, "Unsafe at any speed."

Welcome to the world of politics, the realm of sleazy backroom deals that slowly chip away at the power of a government and its people. Rome lasted a thousand years, but was destroyed in similar fashion. (Destroyed from within)

I remember in the 2000 election, Democrats were complaining about the "Bush dynasty", ( talk about hypocrisy, sheeesh).

Mr. Nader, just exactly when did you realized what the Clintons' were about? The opinion column I read is nothing but empty words. I only hope that you, like John McCain fade away graciously. I know you will not!

The Clintons have managed to fracture the liberal wing of the Democrat party. The Libs are all fighting among themselves. NOW is mad a Kennedy; yet they don't see anything wrong with Bill Clinton's treatment of woman -- including his personal commitment to his wife. It's now woman against African-Americans, African-Americans against Hispanics, etc.; what will be the next to crack?

Go, Ralph, go!

Ralph,

I don't always agree with you or your positions, but you have struck the "perfect cord". I just hope this gets good coverage for your truthful and factual assessment. A visit to O'Reilly and Hannity & Combs is called for.

Thanks

You have to be kidding. Criticizing President Clinton by saying it's all about himself. LOOK IN THE MIRROR, RALPH. The Clinton Presidency was a time of peace AND prosperity. Although he had a Republican Congress and far right attack "ditto heads," he was able to leave office with an over 60% approval record. The facts are pesky things, Ralph. You rationalize 2000 and the unintended consequences of your failed canditacy. Helping to elect Bush (despite your state of denial) gave us the Bush tragedy with hundreds of thousand dead human beings.
You say that it was the Supreme Court, but it never would have gone to court without your presence. AS YOU ARE DOING NOW, you said THEN that there wasn't any difference between the Republicans and the Democrats. Shame on you. Despite some unfortunate similarities, there were substantial differences which you conveniently avoid acknowleging. YOU HAVE BECOME A CARICATURE OF YOURSELF. If you would have tried to help the Democrats and tried to influence policy, IF YOU HAD BEEN MORE PRAGMATIC RATHER THAN IDEALISTIC LIKE BUSH, WE AS A COUNTRY WOULD BE BETTER. As you know, a pragmatist focuses on what WORKS, WHAT IS EFFECTIVE. Your attitude has made you part of the problem and not a part of the solution. Live in your "ivory tower" and criticize those in the arena, and you will be increasingly impotent. Peace in Northern Ireland, which the parties attribute greatly to Pres. Clinton, is no insignificant accomplishment, don't you think? As Abraham Lincoln said, "If you look for the bad in someone, expecting to find it, you most surely will." You have only looked for the bad, not the good, in the Clintons. AND, in case you forgot, Hillary is running for President, not Bill.

Given this article, and how this topic is so hot right now, I thought you might find this of interest:

Thank you Mr. Nader. I could not agree with you more; of course, it is difficult to argue with fact (unless you are a Clinton). No Billy, I never inhaled either.

I dont know how anyone could consider ever voting for mrs. clinton. she has no integrity!! none she lies to live or lives to lie. she has no successes of her own...none!!! we need ralph nader to run. even a republican is better than mrs. clinton!!!

Change vs. The Same? Could it be possible that the American people are exhausted with dynasty politics? Two Bush's and the thought of two Clinton's are frightening. The first Bush wasn't bad, but the second had been deadly. What will the second coming of a Clinton presidencies resemble? Scandal after scandal after scandal. Their constant lying, manipulating, and trifling abuse of power. How many people backs have been scared by the knife the Clinton's lodged into them.

Yes, Bill Clinton did many good things during his presidency, and that was then, and this is now. Why can't they let it go? It does make you wonder why such a self-defined feminist would tolerant a man who abuses young women for sexual pleasure, if it were not for this moment in time when she could do the same to him and the American people.

Finally someone who has some guts to speak the truth. When are we going to get our heads out of the sand and see these people for who they are. This goes for both parties. We are sick to death of Congress and what they have done to our Country. They have clearly proven that they are not for us........... the People, but for themselves.

Clinton's Obama strategy:

Having meticulously planned their coveted return to the White House for several years now, the Clintons will certainly not exit the scene with grace or dignity. This is the political duo that honed "The Politics Of Personal Destruction" into an artform; and, most certainly will not tolerate, who is in their mind, the "upstart Obama" to derail Hillary's pre-choreographed coronation.
With regards Slick's comments on Obama's Iraq record; and, the draft dodger's false accusation of flip flopping on the Iraq issue against Obama: It was actually Hillary who was the serial flip-flopper on this issue. Obama to his credit, as a matter of conscience, refused to deny American troops the funding for the bullets and equipment that they required to survive in ongoing combat. Hillary, on the other hand, with no such compelling principles, was one of only two U.S. Senators who voted to deny funding for essential equipments for our troops who they had "previously" voted to commit to lethal combat. A despicable breach of trust with the young men and women laying their lives on the line in defense of our Nation. Obama made the classical rookie error of not responding to Slick's false accusation, which he could have easily turned to Hillary's well deserved detriment
Barrack and his supporters best be prepared for the "Political Lynching" that will rival anything previously witnessed in Presidential politics. Further, the Clinton's methodical playing of the "Race Card" will promote a permanent schism between the Black and Hispanic communities. Despicable, and destructive to any semblence of National cohesion painfully achieved.
Slick and Hilla-the-Hun, the Perpetual Victim, have repeatedly demonstrated a vicious mud-slinger demeanor that is unprecedented whenever their political dynasty has been threatened in the past. Just ask anyone of their innumerable victims.

Greg Neubeck

I really hope that Hillary keeps talking about the "strength" of her marriage and her husbands "devotion" to her. There are few people in this world that have slept with more women than Bill, most of which has been done after he was married. If Bill is devoted to Hillary, it is because she is the only woman that would let him get away with it. She is either incredibly stupid, like anyone that would cast a vote for her, or, more diabolical, she is only interested in power and doesn't care what Bill does as long as he doesn't get caught (by someone other than her). I go for the second choice and believe that Hillary is an evil, power hungry villian. Hopefully things will swing towards Obama and we won't have to suffer another 4 - 8 years of Clinton depravity in the White House again.

A lot more problems that Bush has faced had their roots in the fact that the Clintons ignored the agencies except for affirmative action and patronage hiring. When intel was inadequate on 911 and on Iraq WMD some blame goes to the fact that CIA directors never met him and had their budgets slashed 30%. When the CA energy crisis errupted he and Richardson ordered its effects spread throughout the NW. The regulatory board was full of cronies who knew nothing about electricity and was useless until Bush restaffed it.
Recently Obama and Hillary debaqted the role of a chief executive. Neither one has a clue. If they get elected, I am investing in wheelbarrows, because the Clintonistas used lots of them to heist tons of money out of both Washington and Moscow.

"Two-time" presidential candidate? Might want to do a fact check on that one.

This is on point! Good to see this and b reminded! Too bad voters can't read this before electing Billary...

Excellent observations Mr. Nader. Hopefully a small amount of the people that support the Clinton's will begin to see the light. It will only take a few to make certain Hillary/Bill are not reelected for a 3rd time. Those people though appear a might dense. Our only hope is that articles like this begin to sink in sooner, rather then later.

Ralph is actually being kind. Clinton actually set the tone for a national epidemic of narcissism. Let's also thank the Clinton administration for building an economy on the back of fuel devouring SUV and encouraging more and more irresponsible urban sprawl, with no hope for mass transit. Let's also hold him responsible for the malevolent neglect of Africa and feckless approach to seeking stability in the Middle East.

Ralph Nader is directly responsible for handing the worst president in the history of this nation, the keys to the white house, by running as a third party candidate, because, after all, there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans.

I would venture that he no longer feels this way.

Please go away Ralph. You've done enough damage already.

Can't believe I'd ever say "Amen" to a Nader observation, but... It's well past time that the Clinton's keep getting a free pass from their admirers in the press. Their act surely doesn't pass the 'sniff test' unless one has no olefactory senses or functioning synapses.

That's right Ralphie boy, say what you want about the Clintons. We all know that it's because of you that we have had eight years of W and Cheney. Thanks for nothing.

Nader has real guts. If Hillary wins, you know she'll have IRS hacks all over him for this article (just ask Joe Farah at WND). Nader is fair, that's for sure....and smart (how many dumb Lebanese do you know? Again, ask Joe Farah - Answer = None).

I don't agree with Ralph Nader on much, but he certainly makes it hard to disagree with him when he's right. Now if he can just make that Edwards love-child go away, his Edwards' supporters will be forever endeared to Nader. Nader should claim the love-child is his, and the public perceptions of his austere, celibate lifestyle will vanish, and he may even become 'Cool'.

The roosters are coming home for these two low class grifters. The contest between Obama and the Clintons has degenerated into a class war. Obama has class - the Clintons don't.

Don't forget the setback to gays-in-the-military caused by Clinton.

Thanks, Ralph. It is always intersting to hear from a genuine liberal in contrast to one who calls himself a liberal and is up for sale. You are the real deal. If Bill gets back in the WH, take out the Roman History tracts - Marius returns. Swiss real estate here I come.

We would still have an economy and 4,000 live American troops if this country would have listened to Ralph eight years ago. Our national debt wouldn't be $9 trillion and our trade debt wouldn't be $60 billion per month. Ralph would have invested in America instead of Iraq. We would probably be energy self sufficient. And we would probably be the United States instead of the Divided States of America. Oh what could have been, if only American voters had a brain. Hillary will be just another bush in the White House, and another four years of the Divided States of America.

Clinton defaced America for 8 years. That he is seen as some sort of lesser god by blacks and Dems is surprising in that we are, in fact, one nation. Virtually every conservative despises the Clintons. Romney will mop the floor with HC if nominated. Clinton ... graced the Oval Office. He's an international embarrassment. The conversation in al Qaeda went something like: "Look at those filthy Americans wallowing in their own crapulence. They should all burn in hell."

Clinton defiled America before the world, and now Dems are poised to kiss these losers on the lips for another 8. Give me a break.

You forgot to tell how Clinton really didn't balance the budget as he and hillary both proclaim they did. They Neutered our armed forces and robbed Social Security of billions of dollars. We don't want sexual predators around our schools and children, why would we want one in the white house? Why would we want a President that would willingly harbor, aid and abed a rapist? Lies, lies and more lies ask Geffen, one of their biggest supporters over the years. Come on People wake up!

I totally agree with Mr Nader's assessment of Bill Clinton, and then some. If there has ever been more of a megalomaniac on the loose it can only be Mrs. Clinton. I once thought George Bush held this dubious distinction however on closer examination I realized Bush has simply buffooned his was through his presidency,

Let us not forget selling nuclear missile technology to China, with the proceeds going to the Democratic National Committee. Ever wondered why Hillary gets so many donations from Chinese dishwashers (who can't afford to make those donations) and from Norman Hsu? Same reason Bill got so many donations from Johnny Chung and Charlie Trie and all the other contributions from China (all of which are illegal).

And what about Bill since leaving office - he is a highly paid adviser to Abu Dhabi (over $10 million a year). Aren't they the evil ones who bought our ports a few years back? Will he have to register as a foreign lobbyist if Hillary gets elected?

I've always said that the worst thing about a Hillary White House would be Bill Clinton.

The question is, do we want Bubba running around the White House with time on his hands? It looks like the Clintons strong arm tactics are not working as well as they used to. Lets hope more democrats finally see them for what they really are, selfish liars who will do ANYTHING to gain power.

Ralph Nader had no credibility what-so-ever!

Had this fossil of the 70's not been so selfish in 2000 George Bush would have NOT been elected.

Nader has insisted over and over it made no difference. For someone living in his own reality this may make sense, but for anyone with some knowledge of the events following Bush's election - it's BULL.

From the day Bush assumed the office he was determined to eliminate, depose and kill Saddam Hussien. This was not the agenda of Vice President Al Gore.

Over 200,000 men, woman and children have died violent deaths as a consequence of Ralph Naders' tipping the 2000 election to George Bush. It did matter who won in 2000 and it will matter in 2008. Nader would do well to crawl into a hole and pull the dirt over himself - perhaps it would sober him up from the intellectual drunk he's been on these many years.

GREAT ARTICLE,WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO PUT CORPORATE MAFIA LOVERS INTO OFFICE?

Wow! I would never have believed I would agree with you on your summary with my being a conservative (very frustrated) Republican and all. What a mess for everyone, except the possibly the Chinese, and anyone else paying for services. . . Thanks again

Check it out.

Another nail in the Clinton coffin...

What's up with nitpicker? Nader ran in 2000 and 2004; unless this commenter knows of a third time and wants the blog to register a higher number of times Nader ran?

@RWordplay: To build on your comment re. SUV's and urban-sprawl favoured over urban-renawal and mass-transit, you may recall that one of Clinton's campaign promises in 1992 was massive investment in infrastructure, esp. mentioning rail and mass-transit. Far as I was ever able to tell, this never occurred, with Amtrak (needs to be fact-checked) receiving less and less over time.

We should all place this URL everywhere we can. (I've just posted to the LA Times and SF Chronicle.) I often disagree with Ralph Nader, but he recalls to the surface some of the greatest deficiencies of the Clinton. The moveon.org crowd still hates Nader for "handing the election to Bush" in 2000 and won't pay attention, but they don't pay attention to logic or facts on principle and are not the ones we need to reach. There are serious, if misguided, people out there who supported Nader and still care about what he has to say.

The worst thing about a Hillary White House would be Bill.

Chase, take another toke, Kool-Aid boy! Nader is correct on everything he writes. The Clintons are human head lice.

I agree with you. I am a woman but I will never vote for H. Clinton. She and Bill are power hungry. No respectable woman would have put up with Bill Clinton except one who only wanted power. They deserve each other.

From post by Chase:

"AND, in case you forgot, Hillary is running for President, not Bill."

Gee, that's been a little hard to detect lately, in fact it seems like another twofer.

As for peace and prosperity...I don't think the Bosnians thought it was so peaceful, or a few others that Clinton had to wag the dog on. And as for prosperity, yes, as long as you take into consideration that he didn't cause it, does government cause invention and ingenuity? No.

More Clintons and their very ugly tricks won't be good for us. I don't care if Hillary thinks it's her turn. The Democrats can do better. Enough already.

Clintons domestic successes were dwarfed by foreign policy failures: no intervention during genocide in Rwanda, humiliation after being beat back by tribal militia men in Somalia, and kow towing to North Korea as they flaunted their disregard for us.
He also treated international terrorism as a "law enforcement" problem. That problem later brought down the twin towers in NYC
Further, while Democrats rant about the need for a comprehensive energy policy, CLinton did nothing novel here either. This even as Al Gore, chief priest of the global warming movement, was his deputy.
Sure Hillary is the one running, but so is Bill. If she gets elected, guess who goes to the White House with her? We can't afford another eight years of them!

Daniel,

Yeah, it's easy to get 60% approval when you do NOTHING!

You are ludicrous! LOL

Clinton's tenure a time of peace and prosperity? Hardly. 8 years of Bill Clinton included 2 verified domestic terrorist attacks (the World Trade Center and Oklahoma City) and a possible third (Flight 800). There were a number of terrorist attacks on foreign US interests, including the USS Cole and multiple US embassies. His tenure also included significant military actions including the bombing of Baghdad, the Balkan War/Yugoslavia, Somalia, and the aspirin factory in Sudan.

There were also significant scandals revolving around massive Chinese espionage efforts within the United States that Clinton failed to address (other than to accept their campaign donations). We have yet to pay the price for those breaches of national security.

Change means No More Clinton.

Ralph,
You should have run this year. I have no one to vote for this year. We have no leaders amongst the wannabes. They all want to be president, but none of them want to lead. We are in dire need of a leader. Who are YOU voting for?

Veritas!

Mr. Nader,

Just like Mr. Wheat above, I don't always agree with you, but you have done a wonderful job in summarizing his presidency. Those that look at approval ratings as he exited need to look at what difficult decisions he made during his presidency and you will truly see what the difference is between an average and great leader. The post Soviet Union era could have been a great time to redistribute resources into other areas, like the coming of the Terrorist threat. However, to do so would require potentially being politically correct, and it is better to be loved by all rather than offend somebody for the greater good. That is the Clinton legacy and in no way reflects the reality of the world. As long as people can think and have their own agenda, you will always have winners and losers. If Hillary didn't know her husband was sleeping with other women, how do we know she will be able to recognize a threat to the US as Commander in Chief?

It is obvious that CHASE's statements are from someone who does not want the truth. Yes, CHASE
Hillary is running not Bill, but if you can pull your head out long enough, realize that you will get both. Bill has spent the last 3 months being the "bad cop", and his behavior is border line pathetic. Hey, Teddy, and Caroline even support Obama. As an independent who has always voted conservatively, I applaud Obama, for he asks not for republicans, or democrats, but for Americans
who can see the bigger picture.Nafta, Whitewater,
cattle futures, illegal chinese contributions which both have taken part in. Do you want a predator back in the White house? Did she stay with her husband after four public humiliations of infidelity for love no, for power She is a disengenuous socialist who recently got an earmark for a group which supports condoms for
prison inmates. I guess prison is gettin sexier!

Gee Ralph, why didn't you speak up before.

Nader is a joke! He cost Gore the election and is the reason we have Bush. What a hypocrite!

You have got to be kidding, Ralph Nadar! You are the last person to be talking about ego driven politicians. You screwed it for Democrats in 2000, and tried to do it again in 2004, but thank God we figured your selfish desires. President Bill Clinton was a hero for working men and women, minorities and gay people. The media and intellectuals like you despised Clinton because he called y'all out on your homophobia, rascist and sexist attitudes. Senator Hillary Clinton would make a fine president, and you need to get over all the resentments you have for the Clintons and the democrat party, you are not welcomed. How fitting that this conservative newspaper gave you room to blow your hate mongering, insane rantings. I dislike Geoerge W. Bush with all my being and lucky for you , you are right up there also Ralph Nadar.

Mr. Ralph Nader stated some of the Clinton errors while in office but left out the very sad fact that the Clintons aided the conspirators of 9-11 by preventing the sharing of information between the CIA and the FBI which surely would have prevented that tragedy.
Bill Clinton also was the most immoral person ever to gain the presidency and, with his wife, issued the most immoral presidential pardons in our country's history. there is so much more, but liberals don't really want to hear the details.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Nader back in 1990 at his Washington office. At the time I was in the battle of my life against the insurance companies. I was a life insurance broker that advertised lower cost policies through legal discounts or commission rebates depending on state law. Mr. Nader was very truthful and kind. He tried to help me get some attention with the news media. From that interaction, I trust Mr. Nader and I do believe he just wants to see a better nation. I do not believe he is a socialist. He just wants to see everyboby under the same rules. As an aside, the insurance business has a broad exemption from Federal antitrust law and the Federal Trade Commission is banned by law from investigating their business practices. I ended up testifying twice before the House and once before the Senate. I lost my business, but I tried.

Respectfully,

Rick K. Nelson

>>he was able to leave office with an over 60% approval record.

So what? Pornography and beer would probably have a high approval rating too, if people reported factually. That doesn't mean it's good for you. Approval ratings - yeah, Clinton left office with a high approval rating because nearly every single thing he did in office was geared towards keepin' those approval ratings high. For his post-presidency legacy.

Mr Nader you are right on target with your comments. This country is in big trouble at home and abroad. I have listened to the debates (sound bites) and read for hours the positions and backgrounds on all of the candidates. Most are members or connected to the CFR, or are preaching their allegiance to Israel due to the make it or break it connection to the AIPAC. Ron Paul appears to me to be the only candidate that has a clue about how the economy should be operating. His views on our foreign policy are being overlooked, which is sad. I have no idea why America is allowing itself to be misled by the mainstream media. Wake up people this is for real. Research Ron Paul, without him our Constitutional & God given rights are history.

Ralph you really should run for president. I now see the democrats approaching the ugliness of republicans. You get my vote and my money .... Please we need You!!
