Clinton recruits out-of-staters to pack rally

Reporters who walked into this Nashua high school today were immediately struck by the crowd — there are visibly more people here for Sen. Hillary Clinton than were here for Sen. Barack Obama yesterday in the same location.

The Clinton crowd was loud and boisterous and their foot-stomping was thunderous.

Many of them were also from Massachusetts.

Clinton gave a few minute speech about how she sees the race for 2008 shaping up, then started taking questions. As she did, I noticed dozens of people start streaming out via the back doors.

Of the 7 people I interviewed, three said they had taken advantage of the short drive to come see both Clinton and Obama in the area in advance of the Feb. 5 Massachusetts primary.

But the others said they were Clinton volunteers who came up to canvass on her behalf this weekend.

Serap Sankoh, a biostatistician from Acton, Mass., said she had been actively recruited to attend and wave signs wildly by the Clinton campaign. "I got the telephone calls not last night but the night before and I'm a die-hard supporter, so I made the drive," she said.

Another reporter noticed a charter bus parked outside — and it wasn't part of our traveling motorcade.

Also, one questioner in the audience was from upstate New York and stood to praise Clinton for helping his city. "I want to stand here today proud to say to New Hampshire that our little city … with the help of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is on the verge of a renaissance," he said.

That prompted Clinton to thank the out-of-staters for "spreading the word." She started to say she was impressed by "the numbers of people who have come on their own from New York" and was interrupted by wild cheers. No way to be sure if the applause came from New Hampshire voters or New Yorkers. Clinton added that yesterday she saw a bunch of people from Arkansas.

She said she wanted the crowd to know: "If you honor me with your vote on Tuesday I will work my heart out for you."

UPDATE, 4:20 P.M. — When the event ended I talked to some of the out-of-staters, including Julia Fuchs, 65 and a recent graduate student. She was about to board one of the buses back to New York after spending two days in the Granite State for Clinton.

"We are crazy about her. We came here to stump for her, they told me where to go," she said. "The campaign paid for everything."

Fuchs also told me that one questioner who asked about student loans during the event was one of the volunteers from New York.

UPDATE, 5:20 P.M. — I just spoke to the student loans questioner, Dominique Wilburn, who told me she actually is an intern in Clinton's New York senate office.

Wilburn, a student who lives in East New Jersey, was quick to say she was no plant and that she wants to know about how the candidates will help the youth. "It was an issue the candidates haven't really talked about," she said. "She didn't know who I was until afterwards when someone told her a bunch of us came from New York."

What is so surprising about this Clinton Machine shenanigan... next, the dead voters will be rising.

CHEAP! just plain cheap. Has Hilliry no pride and where are these peoples brains being used this way.

Just like her husband, this woman has no shame. Now her campaign is just as phoney as her claim to her "experience". This is why no one trusts her. She drags in people from New York to cheer for her because she can't draw the people of New Hampshire to her tired laundry list of empty promises.

What's next? Extra terrestrials?

Hilary has no shame. Ki Jung Il has more class.

Illusion, collusion, delusion, confusion, but she's still gettin' a bruisin.'

I am pro-Bush, pro the decision to make Saddam accountible for shooting at our planes and refusing UN mandated inspectors, and to Hillary I say:

Thanks! Thank for your 'YES' votes on:

The Iraq War
The Patriot Act
The Surge
Eavesdropping (after calling it immoral)
Data Mining

Dick Cheney can only break a tie in the Senate--but you have been a reliable aid to our conservative politics even as you claim to be anti-war!

This story gels with the live CNN remarks of Andrea Mitchell in Iowa, when she said the concession speech from Hillary was heard by staff and union workers! There are few who are real and local that are attending. Sheesh! Another blow out!

Nice. Clinton can't find supporters in New Hampshire, so she busses them in from New York? And PAID for them to come? Sounds like stuffing the ballot box to me, but these particular stuffers can't vote. At least not in New Hampshire. She is desperate. And should be.

Sen. Clinton is in pretty serious danger of losing NH. What happened to the Clinton machine?
A loss in NH has the potential to really impact SC.

Now this is not new... Remember the phoney questions that she's pulled before in towh halls.. ... Now she's bussing in people from other states.. Sounds like she's desperate..

Sorry, but I am pulling for Obama.. And I am republican too. I am pulling for him to defet Hillary, but in the general I will be voting Repub..

Vince Foster was unavailable for comment.

well we now no she is a fake cant even put people who want to see her at a rally unless she pays for them to come. what a farce this lady is. i would prefer condoleeza rice over this fake person. please dems let her win so we can run against this fake.

Gee, any surprise here! I'm sure the same 100 of here fellow communists will be at all of the states' in contention.

Hillary says she is the one that can lead real change. I say she can. She changes her mind more, and faster, times then a wind sock in a thunder storm.

Dear Hillary,

Please take your imported cheerleaders and you own butt back to New York. They apparently still think you are worth something. Noone else believes that anymore. You have been found out to be nothing but a soulless shell.

Obama - didnt load 20 buses from the chicago area on the night of the jackson dinner. So what? It just shows you are inexperienced in covering NH Primaries because people from around the country come to see and work for the candidates of their choice. If you would of seen 40 buses filled than that would be a story.

Does the woman have no shame... C'mon Hillary. This shows how childish and petulant you can be... Not very becoming for a President. D.

This takes allot of never to print from media that supports a president who filters all who attend his speeches and who enforces "free speech" zone so isolated that opposing concerns are effectively silenced?

I'm a liberal living on the Left Coast that created Ronnie Reagan and Nixon. I have values. Two wrongs are never right. This, is one of many reasons I don't like Hillary.

*
GAD... is there no end to what this woman will do to win?

Another, sleazy dirty trick... and you know who her sleaze is meant to trick??? YUP! You and me.

Frankly, I don't know about you, but this is one American that is sick of Hillary Clinton using dirty tricks to try and get my vote.

Hillary.... NO NO NO NO NO!

One can only hope it's the beginning of the end for Hillary. Of course, I 'could' be happier. It could be the 'middle' of the end! Hopefully history will soon scrape Hillary off its shoe, and move on.

Bill & Hillary the lying Clintons.

Everything about these two is phony.

Another Clinton administration, full of corruption, lies, and infidelity...I think not,

She is such a pig. They are so crazy for her because they are as dishonest and unprincipled as she is.
What a pig.

"We are crazy about her. We came here to stump for her, they told me where to go," she said. "The campaign paid for everything." DESPERATION! Now they have to bus em in and Payem to show their support typical democrat.

I wonder how many of thoughs bused in will stay and try to vote for her?

Is anyone surprised? Clinton and the Democrats drool over the prospect of moving illegals around to vote should she be elected. God Bless America!

Unfortunately Ted Kennedy didn't retire or she may have run in Massachusetts instead of my HOME state of New York. GO HOME CARPETBAGGER.

Saturday a busy intersection in Manchester NH was crowded with campaign people for Clinton, Obama and Edwards, all waving and flashing their signs with great enthusiasm. Cars going by were honking wildly increasing the enthusiasm. About 10 feet into the intersection out in front of the campaigners so they didn't see the front of his sign stood one man with a great smile on his face. His sign read, "If you think these people are all idiots, HONK" Great times!

Fake facades that look good on the outside and are something else altogether on the inside...that is the way Bill and Hillary are campaigning. Contacting volunteers from other states to come and "pay everything" for their trip and to script their questions....fakery, fraudulent are word that come to my mind. This is
more of the same untrustworhty behavior that has dogged them throughout their political and personal lives.

I live in Massachusetts, outside of Boston. On Sunday night around 6:30 p.m. I received a recorded message from Hillary Clinton urging me to come up to New Hampshire on Monday night to see her, Bill and Chelsea. I am a Democrat but I have never given any money to Hillary Clinton's campaign and I don't support her for president.

As if we need another reason to hate the Clintons. They dont have an ounce of truth in them.God help america if she ever got elected. Why people put up with her(his) crap is beyond me.Sometimes I look around and just think we get what we ask for.We need to improve many things in this country, but putting the clintons in office is the same as kissing our behinds goodby.

Same old Hillary; different day.

I was at the event today at Nashua North High School to get a "feel" for the real Hillary. I arrived late, and a tough guard turned me away at the door to the gym. I was there to learn, and essentially my space may have been compromised, if indeed a number of folks were all-expense brought in from NYC to enhance the crowds. Is this the way to get the word out?

I was at an Edwards event today and as a NH voter I was blown away by the size of the crowds. That is until I found out that a third to a half were from NY and MA. I am insulted when so many out-of-staters are brought in to pump up the appearance at a campaign stop. I realize that perception is reality when it comes to politics, but how can we trust a candidate when we can't even trust who the real residents that actually attend are.

libs are such loosers.

Packing the audience with paid attendees, planting questions and testimonials.........this is a person who would be the leader of the free world? It sounds like someone running for a high school class office.

I must say that after Hillary pounding home for months her 35 years of experience, I finally got it. She's been around in politics for 35 years and what does she really have to show for it? Look at her 'resume' against Richardson or Biden or Dodd and their accomplishments over time..

Look at Obama! At 46 he has more elected years in office and more accomplishments than Hillary. And he's an inspirational leader who really will unify this nation!

It's always by listening to Hillary that you realize why you shouldn't vote for her.

My vote goes to Obama!

Typical Clinton tactic, she has to pay for her support and bus in outerstaters for the no shows who could care less about her and her empty words . When will people wake up to the biggest unreported scam machine this country has ever seen.

Some time in the future an investigative reporter will reflect on his life and realize the harm he or she caused this county by looking the other way when the obvious was happening as it pertained to the Clinton era.

Senator Clinton denigrated the power of speech in a democracy in last night's debate in New Hampshire. But she should remember this ...

When Cicero finished speaking, the people said, My, how well he spoke. But when Demosthenes finished speaking the people said, Let us march!

Candidates should strive to emulate Demosthenes.

Martin Edwin Andersen
Churchton, Maryland

I don't see why Hillary and staff just don't buy an air compressor, several thousand blow up dolls, put hair and clothes on them and use them at every stump speech stop. It's a given that the Hillary folks won't snitch and it's also a given the MSM won't notice that none of them are alive....

How pathetic! I hope the voters are paying attention to this "communist tactic"!

How far away are the Out Of Towners from: China??? How can NH allow such obvious prostitution of their states Primary Process?

Yeah, that'll trick those New Hampshirites into voting for her.

RuPaul & Cuba Gooding, Jr. in 2008 !!!

Well as usual Hillary and are husbands stooges are at it again, cant get the local crowds to show up, we will bus them in, and not just anyone, but her campaign workers, Geee Hillary i hope your "employees" didnt make their questions too hard for you, I mean that diamonds and pearls question was priceless. I just cant wait to watch the meltdown

Go Obama....

When do I get the chance to vote for my fellow commie?

How very sad that she has to bus in people to make it appear that she has support.

Smoke and mirrors. If anything could encapsulate Hillary Clinton it is smoke and mirrors.

For the sake of this country, I hope NH sends a clear signal that it is time for Senator Clinton to go back to NY. Our country desperately needs real leadership and not poll driven, image manipulation for the sole purpose of gaining personal political power.

When will people WAKE UP. She is sick in the head and so are almost all of them. Ron Paul for president....

Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gyre
and gimbal in their outgrabe...mimsy were the
Democrats......Hillary and that smarmy, self-
absorbed cockatoo Bill strut upon the stage
full of sound and fury.....signifying nothing!
Wow!..am I "tripping" over my own feet?

This is no different that what Obama did in Iowa. He also bused in voters & paid people to caucus for him in Iowa. At the state Democratic get together in NH the other nite he gave away tickets to high schoolers & kids int heir 20s to boo Clinton & rush the stage we he came out.
So please all you Hillary haters get a grip, your Messiah is as dirty as they come.

Clinton is toast. Busing in people AND covering their expenses? Smells of desperation.

She's a desperate woman, and is sinking to new depths to get an advantage.... even if it's recruiting people from this lousy state to go to her rallies to seem like she has more supporters than she really does from NH.
I hope true New Hampshire residents read this, and keep an extra eye out at their polling places, because I wouldn't put it past Shrillary to have recruited voters... especially after the Iowa fiasco last week!

So , what's new !!!

If, in March, during the Texas primary, She is still in the campaign We will vote in a Democratic primary. This will be a first our children are 6th generation Texas born.

What ever it takes to stop a replay of the Clintons.

Typical, anti-Hillary news...shocking!! Start covering all aspects of the race, stop bashing Hillary. And are we to assume every one of Obama's rally supporters are from New Hampshire?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

That is all I can say. I cant wait for the numbers to come in. How many people there were from NH? 12?

Obama 08!

Its all over Hillary.

Tuesday, January 8th, will be Independents Day for Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton's campaign of inevitability has collided with historical American reality. American voters are instinctively annoyed by pretentious politicians in general, and especially those with a sense of political entitlement. When spin with the wind arrogance is added to the mix, only losing integrity becomes inevitable.

Sure, America's electorate is sometimes fickle, blind and gullible. However, we're never genuinely stupid. Since the founding of our country, inside every American is an Independent activist. Having discovered that Democrats and Republicans are the left and right wings of a rotting bird, the proponents of special interest status quo governance will face future electoral cremations.

Despite some early dysfunction and distractions, being an Independent voter has increasingly become this century's best option in national and local politics. Truly democratic common sense governance focused on "We the People" is the core belief of this reemerging political force rooted in our nation's creation. Autocratic bureaucracies, corporate manipulation, and special interest agendas are the poisons being purged by this century's patriots of democracy.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, including several of her Republican contemporaries, has become the iconic political dinosaur trying to function in a world that is rapidly rendering her species extinct. Even the hype of being a woman presidential candidate holds little credibility compared to being the best choice for a more discerning Independent electorate.

Notwithstanding popular perception, Independent voters network, organize, strategize, and are expanding. New Hampshire, like Iowa, is the tolling bell signaling Senator Clinton's attention that politics and politricks as usual died when she tried to politically strangle Independent voters in America's first capital, New York City. New Hampshire's Independents are a major voting bloc. Despite attempts to revise her rhetoric, the inevitability of Mrs. Clinton presiding in the new capital decisively ends on a unusually warm winter's day in the "Granite State."

Dennis Moore
Chairperson,
District of Columbia Independents for Citizen Control (DCICC)

This is simply disgusting. Planting questions is one thing, but planting supporters is just sick. Maybe if she spent some of the money she spends on busing fans in from across the country on "The Audacity of Hope" and "Dreams From My Father" she would realise that the only thing she has a hope of changing is her failed strateegy. Oh wait- she does that every week.

Give me a break.

Wow! This reminds me of the student who was given a scripted question and then later felt misused by the campaign. Out of town supporters are great, but I thought the point of recruitment (as the Obama campaign does) was for canvassing and such, not to be crowd fillers!

The genius of Hillary shows again. The idea is clearly to appeal for the sympathy voters. Poor Hill has to bus in people for her rallies. It sure shows how well she can manage a campaign. Imagine how well she could lead the country and run an administration. The marx brothers Larry, Curley and Moe would do as well..

This is very sad to me, for I thought she should have had more class than this type of deceit.

I love the smell of desperation in the morning!

Come on, you know very well you could have written the exact same column using any candidates name. The thing about the NH primaries is that you can see four or five candidates up close every single day. So patriots from all over the country come in for a quick weekend of getting to see the next? president up close, and enjoy a little 19th century entertainment (the political speech). If you have some heat like Obama, Hillary, Huckabee, Paul and Edwards people are going to seek you out. The audiences share impressions of different events and candidates and update each other with places and times for other events in the area. The folks in front of me yesterday at Obama were wearing Paul and McCain campaign paraphenalia...at the Edwards event I spent the evening with a Mittster. Huck served good chowder, but Chuck Norris killed the room. NH is like political Lolapalooza concert, you go from (or in reality they come to you) event to event cause you know this is a really special opportunity.

Will the press now ask Hillary how many "BUNDLERS" were giving her illegal monies?
Will the press find out what she did with these
monies? Did she keep the money? She said: "..she
knew the people wanted her to have it.." and she
didn't know where to return it.
MAN, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS!!

Clinton will stop at nothing to try and win. She wants Illegals to vote she flip flops. She will soon start a real bad smear campaign against Obama. You just wait and watch.

One of you that posted earlier, I believe it was Laurie....Please Laurie do the math. When she (Hillary) said "You have all known what was in my mind for the last 35 years". Hillary is 60 years old. 35 years ago she was 25 years old and a young law student. Her dreams were of Marx, and she had not yet run for anything more than a toilet during a case of the trots. When are people going to pay attention to what this woman says. Everything is an exaggeration or a lie. If she gets the nomination, she will win by cheating. It is all she knows. PAY ATTENTION. By the way, Obama did bus students into Iowa that were attending colleges out of state. This is a party problem.

She lost the support of many law-abiding Americans and families that immigrated here legally when she started pandering to the National Council of La RAZA and hired a former President of La RAZA to work on her campaign. She also has Emma Lozano on her Illinois Hispanic council,.....Emma Lozano is the Mexican socialist, wife of the preacher that gave sanctuary to Elvira Arelllano and her son Saul in Chicago. That says it all. Hillary and Obama have both pandered to illegal aliens. That alone makes them unfit for office.

Vote for the Democratic Party and you can also be allowed to pay 37 million dollars in one month (November) for the social services of illegal aliens. That is what it costs taxpayers in Los Angeles County to pay for the food stamps, medical, etc. Question: Does anyone know the exact date that millions of American citizens voted on supporting Mexico and the rest of the world? In reference to the article, yes, voting for the Democrats will definetly seal the American citizenrys fate as far as open borders and supporting the rest of the world with our taxes. Have at it. By the way the Republcan Neocons aren't one bit better, in case anyone misunderstands my sentiments.

I am the person mentioned here that was from NY complimenting Hillary for all she had done for Upstate NY, in particular my city of Rome, NY. I came of my own free will to support Hillary, and for a chance to see her. As is well known, candidates do not normally campaign in NY. I was astonished and thrilled to have been called upon, so much so that I forgot to ask my question on healthcare. I was aware that there was a bus out of Syracuse, but did not have the option of spending that amount of time. Had I had the time, more than likely I would have. As a nurse, I do not have enough money to support Hillary financially and this was my effort to show my support for my candidate.

scarcity made it necessary to suspend those duties by temporary therefore, not to increase, but to diminish, what they called the pkkqjxvgcf
